Since Sarah Palin announced that she was not going to run for president, there has been a certain degree of bitterness on the part of some FReepers. She was bilking us, some said, just trying to hawk her books. She has betrayed us, said others, she never wanted to run anyway. I admit that at first I was one of them.
However, take a look at the attention Herman Cain suddenly been getting. These articles resulted from a quick google search and go back six days...

...None of it is complementary. Meanwhile Lawrence ODonnell over at MSNBC lectures Cain on the 'black experience' and Al Sharpton questions whether Cain is "authentically black."
Sarah Palin was taking the flak for Cain, I believe. She knew that as soon as she was no longer a consideration, the media's guns would turn on the next true conservative; Cain. Palin stayed to cover Cain, giving him as long as possible to stay out of the harsh, biased media spotlight.
She sacrificed herself to protect the best conservative in the race. To give us a chance to elect Herman Cain rather than Mitt ObomneyCare or La-raza Rick.
Lets honor her sacrifice. Lets raise Cain!
The place I see the author's point being true is with the Perry-dacyls. With Palin finally breaking the 'bad news' I see the Perry-dacyls filling that vacuum (no longer interested in Palin threads) flocking to attack the Cain threads and posting their own critical ones, like on the 9% sales tax...all to revive Mr 'Have a heart' .
Right now at this moment Cain symbolizes the anti-establishment-anti-RINO Republican sentiment much like the Palinistas promised she would once she 'announced'. Supporting him makes people feel like they are sticking the Scarbouro/Roves/Krauthammer's in the eye. Will it last? Stay tuned.
Cain got my attention from the beginning. I’m firmly behind him now, hoping with all I have that he does not vacillate or back down in any way.
It’s hard to trust ANYONE running for political office completely, but he’s the best we have, IMO.
Backtracking in any way - or putting Palin on the ticket- would be the only thing that would make me reconsider my vote.
The same can be said of Justin Bieber but that doesn't make him the savior of anything.
We can agree that we have to select from a bunch of duds again this time, of which Cain is now the most interesting of the lot. Newt has good soundbites but has a truckload of baggage.
RE :”Backtracking in any way - or putting Palin on the ticket- would be the only thing that would make me reconsider my vote.”
Palin?? You still think she has any intention of running for office again?? Please!
“...We arent the same country imagined in Mr Smith Goes to Washington - that could never happen now...”
That is probably the truest statement ever spoken...
And I’m under the belief that it never could have happened THEN, either. Politics has always been about money and power - who has it, who wants it, what they’ll do to get it, and who they’ll kill (figuratively and literally) to keep and maintain it. The real enemy is the “THEY” we always refer to - this nebulous, untouchable cabal of wealthy, liberal/socialist power brokers on both sides of the aisle.
And who are “they”? That’s the real question, isn’t it? Put a face on them, a name, and an identity, and they become “touchable”.
We get played, back and forth, between one side or the other, constantly.
Makes me sick too. You’re not alone.
Bi- I think Palin is done. She had a chance to ‘save us’ and said no.
Newt is done too, as is Ron Paul. It is my opinion that once an individual gets into the race for the highest office in the land, and is rejected, look for someone new. I have a problem with professional candidates for office.
Lets discuss Cain further on a Cain thread . I’m not interested in encouraging the ravings of The Church of Palin.
I remember I posted “delete magnificent” back then....I had that creep Rove figured out before most FReepers did : )
Lol....rotfl
This stuff almost leaves me at a loss of words...
It’s amazing what some folks come up with to justify their mindless worship of their political saviors.
Jeez, poor Laz, I bet he didn’t expect several hundred “add me” pings within hours of posting that.
I think there was no opening for her.
