Mars’ atmosphere is too thin to have liquid water. Water can exist as ice (when the temps are low) or water vapor. It skips the liquid phase.

Though there have been liquid water flows.

I came to the same conclusion. Concave vs. Convex vs. shadows does not add up to a vehicle traveling on the surface.

A small dark crater between two large roughly equal craters, with an arrow and caption, “Obama’s Head stuck up here” might be a worthwhile addition. ;’)

It would a kick to zoom across Mars in a sort of dune buggy (inside a life support shell of course), literally a lifetime of virgin landscape to, well, churn up and wreck. ;’) Regarding the water, my link here:
