These stunning images reveal a remarkable glimpse of life at the ends of the earth. Our melting polar worlds have been captured in breathtaking pictures by the BBC for this autumn's landmark natural history series Frozen Planet. It is the last chance to see the world's greatest wildernesses before they change forever, according to narrator Sir David Attenborough.
'The pictures captured behaviour and phenomena that had never before been recorded,' said Sir David, 85. 'Those pictures will become increasingly valuable as time passes.
'For this may well prove to be our last chance to record, in their full splendour, these astonishing wonderlands that have existed for hundreds of thousands of years before humans reached them and which now, within a century, may change beyond

Well, I am glad they got these pictures because over the next 8-10 years the icepack is going to become so thick that they won’t be able to get to the spots they need to to get these photos.
The world is cooling....

For a polar bear, I think she's kinda cute. To get a true professional's opinion, I think we should ask Laz. :=)

It is the last chance to see the world's greatest wildernesses before they change forever, according to narrator Sir David Attenborough. I thought Attenborough was smarter than that; but maybe he was just reading what the writers wrote. That statement is absurd on its face.

A few weeks ago our 11 year son was watching the news with us and the global warming subject came up. When my wife called the whole subject a farce, my son spoke up and informed us that global warming was what was hurting all the polar bears and penguins in the Arctic. Before he went any further, I spoke up and said, “Son, there are no penguins in the Arctic”. As he was getting ready to argue with me, I added, “global warming killed them all. Now they are only in the Antarctic.” My arm still hurts where my wife punched me.

Interestingly, the seals do better with less ice. The seals need to get their press-agents from the “baby-seal-clubbing days” back on the phone.

LOL - I remember long ago when I was sailing above the Arctic Circle a guy wrote a letter home telling them about the penguins he had seen. We gentle told him that there were no Penguins in the Arctic and the poor guy had to tear up the page and make up another lie.
Of course that was before global warming killed them all. :)

Yet it sometimes seems we get better (truthful, balanced) coverage of our politics from the Brits than the American press. Why is that?
