In a very bizarre turn of events, it seems that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is all riled up over Clint Eastwood's latest movie, J. Edgar. Which, of course, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the FBI's founding director, J. Edgar Hoover.
So when the bureau's not chasing down Scarlett Johansson's nude pics, it's all up in Clint's business! What's up with the FBI going all Hollywood these days?
Color us not surprised it has everything to do with Eastwood's portrayal of The Hoov. And remember we first criticized Clint for failing to make the character "gay-enough."
Now it seems the FBI is all peeved at C. for his "false" portrayal of J. Edgar's sexuality and, according to USA Today, even Assistant FBI Director Mike Kortan tried to persuade Eastwood from depicting Hoover's rumored relaysh with right-hand-man, Clyde Tolson:
"Vague rumors and fabrications have cropped up from time to time," Kortan said, "but there is no evidence in the historical record on this issue."
Well, duh, there's no evidence. The dude was infamous for digging up other's secrets! Ya really think he's going to keep a record of his, shall we say, indiscretions?

They wrote him a letter. How is that “going after” him?
How can they complain his portrayal isn’t gay enough, while at same time saying “duh, there’s no evidence” for him being gay?
Let’s hope Clint doesn’t fag up the movie. No wonder DiCrapio signed on.
Oh bulls**t....like Hoover’s proclivities weren’t well known. Don’t look for another “Alexander the FABulous” (per Oliver Stone) here.
That does NOT mean gay.
“Like the CIA, the FBI was inevitably a major target of KGB active measures. Until the death of J. Edgar Hoover in 1972, many of these measures were personally directed against the Bureau’s long-serving, aging and irascible director. Service A employed three simple and sometimes crude techniques......A third line of attack deployed by Service A against Hoover was to accuse him of being a homosexual.”
“The Sword and the Shield, The Mitrokhin Archive and the Secret History of the KGB” by Andrew and Mitrokhin
It’s a little hard now to decide how much of what we know about this subject is based on fact and how much is based on KGB propaganda.
I hope Clint tells them to get off his lawn.
"Go ahead, make my day!"
The Communists HATED Hoover....they tried everything to take him down. They always lie....it is the only thing they always do. So===like they succeeded doing with McCarthy....all lies and distortion of the truth—they never quite succeeded with Hoover, but they sure tried.
I knew people who attended some of those wild parties at which Jedger engaged in crossdressing. These people were not gossipy old women, they were senior agents.
He was queer as a three dollar bill.
He didn’t have those proclivities. It was a smear by the Ds who wanted to discredit him in the 70s because he had been so successful at keeping them at bay. Hoover appears, from more responsible sources, to have been largely asexual - for some reason he wasn’t much interested.
There is no proof at all that Hoover was homosexual. I have read the screenplay of the movie and it does not have anything in it that would lead someone to think Hoover was a homosexual. With Eastwood’s strange leftward-turn in his politics, that does surprise me. But his movies have always been pretty factual. Guess Rachel Maddow will have no reason to go see it.
Although it is difficult for some of us to understand, some people have little interest in sex, particularly those with an intense commitment ot their work or a cause. Nikola Tesla was one, Michelangelo another.
Hoover was hated in D.C. and by the left generally.
I know women who slept with him. They spent enough time around him to know that he did not engage in cross-dressing.
There are just some people who don’t go nuts over women...but don’t necessarily mean they like men. If anything, Hoover was probably too busy running the FBI and worrying about and obessing about it, they he just didn’t have time for any relationships. Remember, the FBI today—with all its diffusion of responsibilities and assistant directors—wasn’t the FBI of yester year. In fact, everyone called Hoover or FBI Washington—SOG—seat of government—meaning everything—and I mean—everything—came across J. Edgar’ desk...and he controlled it. If a gman’s car’s paint was nicked, Hoover heard about it.
