Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich got worked up when asked about the Occupy Wall Street protests at last night's Bloomberg-Washington Post debate.
Gingrich first sought to tie the protests to "left-wing agitators" before calling for the firing of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner.
He then doubled down, calling on former Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank to be thrown in jail, not anyone on Wall Street. Asked if he actually meant for them to do prison time, Gingrich said he did, alluding to past ethical scandals.

Trust me, I have thought the same thing for some time.
I would like to see Newt in a cabinet position.
Well Newt got that one right I agree put Bernanke in there with them while he is awaiting execution...
What will happen if this nightmare is implemented is that we'll end up with both. European countries that have both have the government sucking down 48% of the GDP. Here in the USA the most the government can plunder is about 19% because people go into tax avoidance strategies if the bite gets too hard. Much more difficult to avoid a sales tax.
I don't agree with you on either one of them. Perry for all of his many flaws is in my opinion the lesser of the evils.
“Cain will not pick Newt for VP because they are fromt he same state. Cain needs to pick someone who can help him carry a swing state.”
Romney/Gingrich????
(Excuse me while I go and vomit. Ughhh)
RE: Cain will not pick Newt for VP because they are fromt he same state. Cain needs to pick someone who can help him carry a swing state.
I say it would be a waste of political talent if Newt isn’t part of the next Republican administration.
Unfortunately we don’t have a Department of Ideas.
“Perry for all of his many flaws is in my opinion the lesser of the evils.”
Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are both criminals. They broke actual laws, not imaginary laws like, “you shouldn’t make too much profit.”
Sounds like High Crimes and Misdemeanors to me....I would love to see them Frog Marched out of Congress...

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I think Newt might make, for example, a terrific Press Secretary or Chief of Staff.
Capitalism doesnt create bubbles, central banks do.
Let us not foreget who Barney Frank’s former lover was Herb Moses Sr exec of his Fannie.
I remember the days when the Los Angeles basin was a visibly dirty, filthy air smog pit.

Ethanol as a fuel reduces harmful tailpipe emissions of carbon monoxide, particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and other ozone-forming pollutants.
Let’s just make Newt a Czar. /s
RE: Let us not foreget who Barney Franks former lover was Herb Moses Sr exec of his Fannie.
Is he now his ex? Didn’t know that. So, Does Bawney have a current? He’s got so many as far back as I can remember that I’ve lost count.
DC must be competing with San Francisco to be the gay capital of the USA.
Kind of sad that every four years we end up discussing which Republican candidate has the fewest negatives rather than the most positives.
“I agree with Newt, but Why is no one talking about Frank Raines and Johnson from Fannie and Freddie? How do you cook the books for over 5 years and put taxpayers on the hook for $TRILLIONS, and not go to jail? Enron cooked the books for $billions and they went to jail? Rains and Johnson went to Obamas economic team and kept their golden parachutes and Madoff went to jail, whats fair about that? They cooked the books, and we know they cooked the books, and yet they walk away with the money. If it were guns they could call it Fast and Furious.”
What a great post!
I always had the idea that the government somehow decided that the Enron scandal was perfect for the government.
We now have the Enron Government, and they hope that they will get done what they want before anyone wakes up and does throw them in jail.
The only question is: Why AREN’T the repubs on this like white on rice?
WHY AREN’T THEY?
Is it because they, in the background, agree with what is coming? I still have not forgotten how when we all found out about AbleDanger, how our government KNEW who those “hijackers” were on 9/11, and Rush said that BOTH PARTIES were in on the shutting down of that program, and that we would NEVER get the truth of what happened in our on government.
What aren’t they telling us?
WE are the sovereigns, not them!
Newt is strange - he consistently says the the most thoughtful stuff, BUT I just do not see him getting the nomination and then the Presidency.
... in our own government.
Or perhaps Frank can explain his boyfriend’s getting a nice post at Fannie Mae in exchange for his help? Or Pelosi’s son’s cushy job at CountryWide?
Let’s not forget the intimidation of government agency officials and auditors who desperately tried to tell Congress that something was really wrong at Fannie and Freddie and were smeared for doing so.
Not to mention that Dodd and Frank insisted that there was no “implied taxpayer bailout” if Fannie and Freddie were to encounter financial difficulties.
Liars - the bunch of them.
