Unless the Cardinals win it all this year, it will be 7 different winners in the last 7 years. That's good for baseball.
From 1978 to 1987, there were 10 different winners.
1987 Minnesota Twins 1986 New York Mets 1985 Kansas City Royals 1984 Detroit Tigers 1983 Baltimore Orioles 1982 St. Louis Cardinals 1981 Los Angeles Dodgers 1980 Philadelphia Phillies 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates 1978 New York Yankees

It is the 162-game schedule and limited playoff that yields this result.

Ha. The Orioles haven't had a .500 season since '97. But Camden Yards is a pretty stadium.

And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

During the playoffs, there is no such thing as a 5-inning victory with a rainout. All playoff games must go a minimum of 9 innings. If there is extended rain, the game is suspended, and it picks up where they left off —the next day or whenever the weather permits.

I heard a guy on radio compare payrolls. I think it was Kansas City and the Yankees. Without the salary of the star of Kansas City (whoever that is), A-Rod earns more than the rest of the KC team. Can someone verify that?

The only teams never to win a World Series are Washington (ex-Montreal), Seattle, Tampa Bay, Texas, Houston, Milwaukee, Colorado and San Diego.

I remember the cheap seats (outfield) in the old Memorial Stadium. Great memories.

Yep, take off Joakim Soria’s 4 mil, and A-Rod’s 32 mil tops the rest of the Royals combined.

    Dunno, could very well be.
No MLB here in Buffalo (who were *almost* Montreal), but a LOT of people are NYY fans (with a smattering of Cleveland & Detroit followers). ‘Just all Yankee’d out...

This is what the Yankees got this year from Alex Rodriguez of $32,000,000.
99 games, 373 at bats, 103 hits, .276 average, 16 home runs, 67 runs, 62 RBIs, 4 stolen bases. Maybe he should give about 90% of that back or send it in to the IRS to help pay our debt.

Apparently, CJ Wilson of the Rangers is hot for Olivia Wilde. At least that's what the announcer said.

My guess is that some FReepers are also hot for her.
