Sarah Palin: Not Retreating, Just Reloading
The Washington Times ^ | October 7 | Henry D'Andrea

Posted on 10/07/2011 6:01:37 PM PDT by conservativeforpalin

In an announcement that's been four years in the making, former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, said she will not run for President of the United States in 2012.

Palin, who has been in the presidential limelight since 2008, made her announcement on the Mark Levin Show late Wednesday, saying, “I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.”............

I don’t remember pinging you for you’re opinion. Maybe I’m just not interested in reading it right now.

Agree. It's high time conservatives got over this histrionic "jilted lover" BS. Palin did what she thought best for herself, her family, her God and country. She owes nobody anything more than that.

The worst mistake immature conservatives can make is to join the whorehouse media in writing her off as an influence on the national scene. All the liberal jerkoffs are delighted to be writing her political obituary. Anyone here who joins in that drivel is unfit to call himself a conservative American.

No one forced anyone to buy Palin’s books, her biopic DVD, contribute to her campaign or even support her as she never said she was running for POTUS

She always said she was undecided.

As I said earlier, after her bus tour and her biopic didn’t bump up her ratings, she realized that she didn’t have a chance to win her party’s nomination, thus decided not to run.

I’m sure she struggled with the decision, but she doesn’t owe anyone one of us anything.

She is putting her family ahead of her political aspirations, which is far more admirable than someone like Bill Clinton, who put the Country thru an 18 month circus while AQ planned 9-11 and was AWOL from his job as he was in court or on TV, slamming his fist on the podium and pointing his finger at us and lecturing and lying to us in a “how dare you” tone of voice for accusing him of what turned out to be true.

I bought Palin’s first book not because I thought she was going to run for POTUS, I bought it because she is a fascinating person and there were many late nights when I couldn’t put the book down and stayed up way too late on work nights.

Palin’s responsibility is for her child, her children, her family and herself.

Perhaps 3 years of being under the media microscope and the non-stop, 3 year media attack took a toll on her and she decided that she didn’t need to put herself and her family thru even worse, as the lies and smears by the left and the MSM for the past 3 years would look like compliments in comparison.

The MSM set out to destroy her. What they did to her was criminal.

Even a month after her acceptance speech, the MSM had already turned perception into reality, as evidenced by this article from Sept 2008, along with the readers comments.

Not to mention, ABC sliced and diced the interview to make Palin look inept:

http://news.scotsman.com/world/Palin-39prepared-for-war-with.4488838.jp

After Palin gave her acceptance speech, I predicted on this forum that the MSM would attack her worse than they did GWB, and I was right.

Do you think that they would ever allow Sarah Palin to win the WH?

They would use lies and smears and anything they could in order to make her look worse than Obama, in order to make Obama look like a reasonable alternative to Palin if she ran in 2012

Like I said, what they have done to her on a near-daily basis for the past 3 years would look like compliments in comparison to what they would do to her if she were the GOP nominee running against Obama.

You can’t fight City Hall, and you can’t fight 90% of the MSM that is hellbent on destroying you personally and politically as well as financially and any other way they can.

I would have like to see her run, but the MSM wouldn’t allow her to win, and she might not have even won the nomination of her own party.

What did she lie about? She never once promised she’d run. Not once. She did say she would make a decision in Sept/Oct, which she did. I have no problem with you being pissed. I was too. But she didn’t lie about anything.

You’ve GOT to be kidding! By suggesting WE (I guess for you that mostly means Sarah Palin) put country ahead of family and God it shows you have little respect for the 1st Amendment. Freedom of religion means Christians have the right (the obligation) to seek out God for guidance. You would have her put her country before GOD? Think about how selfish it is to expect her to give up her right to worship, her duty to God, just because you want her to think YOUR way.

Seems a conservative should have more respect for personal freedom than that. Demanding that ONE human being MUST save the country? Nobody can live up to such lofty expectations. And people can help their nation in many different ways. If she campaigns for conservatives as hard as she campaigned in the midterms we’ll be able to begin undoing the damage that’s been done.

And you can call Christians anything you want. It isn’t going to shake our faith or the important of Jesus in our lives.

I'm not sure it is a retreat: most of the general public was not as fired up about her Presidency as the hard core conservative base.

What if she can help flip the Senate and give us a large majority in the House, as WELL as the Presidency, without risking becoming a rallying point for the left by running for President?

I would've crawled over broken glass to vote for her as President.

But Reagan lost to Ford in '76.

Cheers!

Everyone I know loves Cain.

In an answer to Lawarence O'donnel (the self-described socialist) Herman Cain used the word "dream" in a sentence which I think needs to be expounded on.

We have a phony president spouting Hope and Change which, as we now know, means to grow government, take from those who have and give to those who don't, and dictate to the rest how they must run their lives- from a federal level at that (bypassing states and the 10th amendment).

I was thinking about what it means to Dream before Herman gave his answer, before Larry-the-lizard asked his question.

Everybody dreams, it's natural. Some societies will allow you to follow your dreams, others will not- in fact, if it's Islam your dream could get you killed by a religious fanatic, all in the name of God (Allah).

Dreams are reality with a dash of fantasy to make them seem feasible- thus dreamable. Some societies allow and encourage them. Steve Jobs lived in one and did quite well. Talent+risk+dream+smarts can payoff in such places and everybody is better off. He wouldn't have lasted two months in Iran. Not to pick on Muslims exclusively, the Chinese and Russians have a way of throwing water on dreamers (and acid, cement, bullets, etc).

MLK Jr. had a 'dream' that ended-up costing him his life, but it was a non-selfish type of dream- one that invited the masses to participate. He'd have done much better had he simply found a way for blacks to participate as contributors to society while earning a cut for himself. Eventually, people would have recognized what blacks could contribute and would have learned to overlook skin color, in favor of talent.(see NFL, NBA)

Instead, our society (with Obama as president) continues to pursue equality and all that it entails at the expense of exceptionalism. Which brings us back to Dreams and why we will not succeed without them.

I dreamt that Sarah Palin would be our next president 'till that icy bucket of water was poured on my head the other day. Some laughed, some snickered, but I was left with this feeling of dreaming that wouldn't go away. It's still here. I still have a dream for America that will restore those values (incentives, rewards, etc.) that we are blessed to have the freedom to pursue.

No matter what Obama and the street occupying punks (but I repeat myself) say, it's still OK to be a millionaire, or at least try. These bastards are trying to kill the dreamer, the risk-taker, and the talented, who, by their efforts to better themselves, end up bettering the lives of everyone else in the process.

America IS a dream and she is on life support. We need all hands on deck, all good men must come to the aid of their country, she's Code Blue- all available personnel to her room, STAT! Bless you and all who work to save America and save the dream. Your ancestors would be proud, your children prouder. She is in your hands, literally.

Just wait for the primaries. When Gov Palin sees the vote fragmented given the mediocre field of candidates, she could still throw her hat in, and I can even see the Electoral College deciding to give her the nomination, regardless of the primaries.

When we put god or relatives above that secular contest, we put our god and our loved ones at risk! The future belongs to the god and followers who can win the day in the secular contest.

My God has dominion over all government, over the earth, and over the universe. He is not a choice of mine or a casual thought. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The god you describe, sir, is little more than a suit of clothing.

If Bible thumping is a failure then I prefer failure in your eyes to failing to allow God to establish Himself at the center of my life.

Go your way in peace and may you find the Lord before you are finished.

Funny, I though she was "Undefeated".

Guess it was a typo or something.

The electoral college is going to thwart the will of the primary voters now? Would you care to explain how the electoral college is going to annex the Republican primary to accomplish this feat?

“You intentionally fed the flames with phrases like “Fire in the belly” “Fight like a girl” “Mama Grizzly” etc.....

Don’t forget the most misleading “Mr. President, GAME ON!!”...From one of the best political speeches I have ever heard/watched.....

“Just wait for the primaries. ........When Gov Palin sees the vote fragmented given the mediocre field of candidates, she could still throw her hat in, and I can even see the Electoral College deciding to give her the nomination, regardless of the primaries.......”

She has had ample time to look at the current crop of candidates and she still bowed out after repeating multiple times “If I don’t see a true conservative candidate I can support”.....Who does she see that caused her to bail?.....There is no chance that she will enter 2012.....I had liberal relatives watching “Undefeated” and reviewing her history through speeches to get the truth....And they were responding....GAME OVER friend for the candidate I was fired up about.....No fire in the belly for any of the other misfits in the offering....

“Those crowds are going to get smaller and smaller”

Why would you think that? Now, immediately afer her announcement and before she’s embarked on her new course, is when people would be at the peak of their disappointment.

But here’s 6000 people giving her a standing ovation! It’s because she’s a hero. She has gvien us great ideas, inspiringly expressed, and shown great strength as she weathered merciless assaults on herself and her family (but note, not much criticism of her ideas).
