I have more to say, but for now:
I do not believe this (her ultimate decision) was something she went back and forth over constantly in the past few months or years. I believe that not only did she leave the governorship of Alaska with 2012 and the US presidency in mind--but she left McCain's concession stage the night Barack Obama was elected in '08, with 2012 and the US Presidency in her sights.
I believe there was careful strategy behind the timing of her book releases, their content, and the way they were written and the way they ended. There was *political* strategy behind choosing to go on Oprah to do her first interview following her resignation--and to meet with Barbara Walters shortly thereafter. I do not believe she chose to go on Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno's return to The Tonight Show episode just because she "loves" being a celebrity. I believe all of it was political and part of her efforts to appear before the masses unfiltered and real. AKA: she was campaigning.
I believe there was strategic considerations about her personal political future behind her decision to become a Fox commentator and her efforts to revamp her media image. Same goes for her decision to invite cameras into her home for "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and I'm sure she even saw the hidden political benefit of having Bristol Palin win the minds and hearts of the public on "Dancing With the Stars."
I believe she changed her foreign policy advisors early this year in light of her presidential aspirations. I believe she went to Israel, India, and Haiti (Sudan was cancelled) and Korea (which she is scheduled to visit next week) with the US presidency in mind.
I believe her decision to release "The Undefeated" in Iowa and key voting states had electoral considerations in mind. I believe every SarahPAC YouTube video screamed "will be running soon, watch out." Her bus tour, her facebook notes touting her record, and her retweets which linked to her most key supporters and supporting organizations like Conservatives4Palin and TammyBruce were intended to encourage site viewers to see her in the context of a potential candidacy.
I believe all her speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire in early September were serving as very BLATANT precursors to her running: touting her experience fighting crony capitalism in Alaska, talking about "HER plan" for the country, etc...etc...
I believe that up until even two weeks ago: she had the fire in her belly. She is a fierce competitor with unlimited energy.
I believe she is confident in her ability to beat Barack Obama and run a fantastic, history-making campaign that breaks all expectations and conventions.
EVEN TINA FEY parodied Palin's "2012 aspirations" on one of her final appearances on SNL the end of the last election cycle. All of Palin's most vociferous haters and denyers, were deep down, expecting Sarah Palin to run...
Which is why, I believe:
Her decision to not run was a very carefully thought out--but last minute decision she's made over the past two weeks at the MOST. I know the lives and safety of her children were of utmost consideration and that there were several recent issues that must have initiated severe worry.
But ultimately, I believe there is more to it that she won't ever say. There is so much that we don't know--about the inner workings of the GOP, for example, that we simply are not a part of and will never see. But I do believe there were things that happened or that she has learned of in these past few DAYS that ultimately led to her final breaking point decision...Something dramatic and sudden, and something more political in nature--than having to do with family.
That's just my guess.
Ultimately, I believe this was simply GOD's way of telling America: at this point, you're not deserving or worthy of a godly leader. You blew it.
That's what my next post will be about.
It rather simple.
You do not encourage people to run, as she did in last year, THEN when it’s your time to set up to the plate walk away.
She walked a away. To me that is a hypocrite.
Saying one thing then doing another. That want she did.
Maybe she'll wait and challenge President Romney for the nomination in 2015 when the people realize they made yet another mistake in choosing their leader.
My milage varies: your behavior fails to exhibit FReeper ettiquet and common sense. Your posts make you sound like a spoiled brat. A word to the wise.
Clyde. she wanted to run even up until 2 weeks ago. Something clearly happened last minute that we may not ever know that led her to change her mind.

Sarah is a true patriot.
Have you seen her new video, she will help get our country back.

Now, teach me something since you took the time to scold. What would you have written if you had read the post, disliked it a bunch, and were promised more later? And I don't want to hear that ol' if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. This is FREE Republic, not a kum-ba-ya circle. What should my response have read?
You obsess about her,and I would not be surprised if your screen saver has a really sensual picture of her. If you are lonely hang out with people that think the way you do especially about your icky, worthless candidate. You remind me of old Joe Mcginnis, who probably stocked up on Viagra and Grass before he began his stalkathon.
Palin exposes people’s inferiority complexes.

I’m not even involved in that exchange of responses. Don’t try to ping me into that childish crap.
What are you talking about. I looked over my past posting history to see these pick, pick, pick things you are citing. Nothing I see as inflammatory. I just roll into any discussion here and there and chat about my impression of them. Financial, car related, housing related, political. If no one posts on FR about stuff what would this place look like? Empty. Palin is a big part of Conservative politics and I will comment on it. Where else is there to have a sensible discussion on these issues? No where for sure. I love Palin, I just don't buy what some hard core supporters have to say on the subject.
If I, as you said, “had read the post, disliked it a bunch, and were promised more later,” I would have moved on and let them have their moment. Although you have the right to state your case within FR guidelines, moving on would have been the sensitive and gracious thing to do towards fellow FReepers who are suffering to a greater or lesser extent. It would have shown character, class, and kindness.
Apparently it isn’t her time to “step up to the plate”, at least not on the presidential level; she was very effective in the last election in getting conservatives into office. If she can again be effective in getting even more conservatives into the House, the Senate and governorships, we can change the situation dramatically whoever ends up in the White House. We need good people using authority responsibly in every level of government.
Hypocrisy is Harry Reid railing against the nuclear option when Republicans threatened to use it in order to get judicial confirmations to the floor for a vote and then using it to prevent Republicans from forcing debate and discussion on amendments to bills the American people don’t want passed.
