Reinhard Heydrich Biography

The First In-depth Look at a Nazi 'God of Death'

By Georg Bönisch

As the chair of the Wannsee Conference and head of the Reich Main Security Office, Reinhard Heydrich was the personification of the cruelest aspects of Nazi Germany. But the first scholarly biography of him finds that a combination of shame, love and luck -- rather than purely inherent evil -- led him to pursue a path of Nazi terror.

The site for the assassination was carefully chosen at a point where a steeply sloping street in Prague's Libe district made a hairpin turn, forcing approaching cars to slow down considerably. This is precisely what the driver of a heavy convertible Mercedes did as his vehicle climbed toward the curve at approximately 10:30 a.m. on May 27, 1942.

Behind the driver sat his boss, one of Adolf Hitler's most devoted followers. The man was a veritable Aryan poster boy, tall, blonde and blue-eyed, the ideal image of an SS leader. He was also the person whom one British officer referred to as the "mastermind."

That man was none other than Reinhard Heydrich, chief of the Reich Main Security Office (RSHA), the body charged with fighting all "enemies of the Reich" within and outside German borders, and one of the principle organizers of the Holocaust. Just months earlier, he had chaired the Wannsee Conference in Berlin, during which plans for the murder of what would turn out to be approximately 6 million people were discussed.

At the same time, another one of Heydrich's official positions was that of deputy protector of Bohemia and Moravia, two regions in today's Czech Republic, where he ruled with an iron fist.

He was arguably, the most evil man in history. He carried out Hitler’s orders to a T. He did what Hitler said to do. I read a book about him and I would not want to be this man when Christ returns. He’s in big trouble.

He was on his way to France in a few weeks. He would have replaced Hitler as Fuhrer when the goin got tough. We have to praise the men who put this evil to rest. To the people of Lidice, the world thanks you.

There are a number of tv productions about his asassination and the Czech who misstakenly surrendered himself hoping that the village the Nazis would not wipe out in retaliation would not happen ...but did.

He would have had Himmler’s job, if Himmler had been removed much earlier, or if Heydrich had not been assassinated. Himmler had little response to Heydrich’s inflexibility and greater intellect, and was probably relieved when he died.

Of course, since Muzzies everywhere claim that the Holocaust never happened, a lie even they don’t believe, Heydrich was just doing his job of bringing hygiene to non-Aryans under Aryan rule.

Thanks TigerLikesRooster.

Plenty of men in Russia and Red china would feel deeply insulted by such comments as yours.

NKVD/SMERSH men such as Lavrentiy Beria http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavrentiy_Beria and Viktor Abakumov http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viktor_Semyonovich_Abakumov would consider the likes of Heydrich as little more than amateurs.

Yes, and I suppose the Japanese were no angels either, especially to the Chinese. They seemed to enjoy their torture and killing more than the Nazis did. Thanks for the links.

Let's not forget another contributor to the “Final Solution” in Europe was none other than the Sunni Muslim cleric, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, and all-around Nazi fanatic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Amin_al-Husayni.

Al-Husayni was the uncle of the other Egyptian he hand picked to carry on his bloody butchery in the Middle East two years before he died. In 1972, al-Husayni passed the torch to Yasser Arafat.

One of the things I find terribly frustrating is the average American’s near total ignorance of history and the Middle East in general. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem played a significant role in ME goings on (and in Europe during the WW2 years). The Mufti's evil legacy lives on in the Arab Street to this very day.

Islamofascism is a truly accurate description of what it is, but far too many Americans have any understanding of fascism (Nazism or National Socialism) and radical Islam. It took the deaths of millions to slay the demon of National Socialism in 1945 (though it keeps trying for a comeback), but radical Islam — its partner in crime — is still as evil, active, and virulent as it ever was. Now fueled with petrodollars, it aspires to WMD to achieve its twisted ends. Even our “best and brightest” politicians never understood the threat or have been corrupted by the Saudis or both.

Either way, they're as guilty as Mr. Fancy pants in the photo.

Btw - They knew & they know, they're just passive aggressive bitches about it.

The problem is too many of us let them get away with it, therefore we are accessories to this crime for holding back daily bitch slaps to these same fools in our midst!

Slap, baby, slap!

He was arguably, the most evil man in history.

Yes, in the history of the 20th century written by Communists and their fellow travelers, and read by the uninformed. The man was a piker.

It is just the evil inherent in man after the fall from the garden. Many of us fear God and do not worship other men. That is what saves us.

Well, the Brits killed old Heydrich, but not for the reasons everyone would like to think.
The Chezchs were not being treated as harshly as other countries the Germans over ran. They didnt really mind or were quite on the fence about it. The Brits needed another ally so they dropped those commandos who killed Heydrich, knowing full well what was going to happen. The Germans, in their quaint way, started slaughering whole towns in revenge.
The Brits didnt care about the country or the man. They wanted to force the country into action and killing Reinhard was the best way to do that.
Heydrich was a scary and miserable man.He wasnt called the ‘Butcher of prauge” for nothing and the world was better for his death.
