Yesssssssssssssssssss!!!

Thank you, Tigers for taking out the Yankees!!!

How satisfying it is for this Red Sox fan to see that preening peacock A-Fraud make the last strike-out of the game. :-)

Nice 9th inning by Valverde tonight.

Now all we have to do is get rid of the Phillies, and we’ll be all set.

I look forward to listening to WJR tomorrow morning.

LOL. The contrast in October between Jeter and Arod over the years has been incredible.

Posada didn’t play like he was 40. He can Gardner were your two of your three best batters, along with Cano.

I just had my nightly ‘before bed glass of red wine’ — and I NEEDED it! LOL! (good for the heart AND the nerves!)

You and me both, FRiend!

I’ll be nice to my Yankee neighbors tomorrow! I won’t gloat, but they know what I’ll be feeling!

You're nicer than I am... ;-)

Any favorites for the rest of the season?

There are a few former Red Sox players on the Texas Rangers that I like: Adrian Beltre and David Murphy. We've followed Murphy since his AA days with the Portland (Maine) Sea Dogs. (Then the Pawtucket (RI) Red Sox, then the Boston Red Sox) David is a nice guy, and I'm actually glad he was traded to the Rangers, as he is originally from Texas.

Anyway... I think I'll be rooting for the Rangers, but I'm grateful to the Tigers for taking out the Yankees, too...

I always root against the Phillies simply because of their *nasty* fans.

It was WEIRD how quiet it was at Yankee Stadium for nearly the entire game, wasn't it? If that was Fenway, it would be LOUD the entire night. (Or at least after the 7th inning or so when the alcohol sets in...)

CONGRATULATIONS to your Tigers, cripplecreek!!! Those were some exciting (and very nerve-wracking) games vs the Yankees! Nice talking to you on this thread, and thanks for the info on the Tigers pitchers and position players.

You were right... Fister would be alright. He was the winning pitcher!

Hey, you and I are on the same page, FRiend! I always root against the Yankees and Phillies. The Phillies mostly because of their uber-NASTY fans. We've been on the receiving end of their venom at Citizens Bank Park over the years during Red Sox vs Phillies inter-league games... Phillies' fans actually give new meaning to the word "nasty". Strange bunch in Philly...

I thought the same thing too.

Just wait until I see the Yankee fans at the American Legion tomorrow. I have a question for them. Where where the boisterous cheering Yankee fans? Just can't wait to rub it in a bit tomorrow.

Next up, to shut up the Philly fans.

My husband and I were commenting all evening how strange the silence was at Yankee Stadium. I think they pack nearly 45,000 fans in that (way overpriced) stadium.

We go to a fair amount of games at Fenway Park... I've never heard Fenway that quiet, even when the Red Sox are losing (as they often did this year, unfortunately). The Yankees are an incredible team... their fans should be proud - even if they have A-Fraud (lol). But where were the chants, etc.? Even the organ and the usual Yankee Stadium music and clicking and clacking was oddly silent tonight, even early in the game... weird.

Next up, to shut up the Philly fans.

AMEN, FRiend! :-)

I’d give Detroit a slight edge in starting pitching, due to Verlander.

Texas has better middle relievers, but Valverde is slightly better than Feliz.

Texas has an edge offensively, but my fear is they’re too reliant on the long ball.

Tigers in 7.

Congratulation, Tigers!

As someone who despises both Red Sox and Yankees; this has been a wonderful couple of weeks of baseball...absolutely wonderful. Black armbands everywhere in the northeast this morning...sports journalists grinding their teeth without an AL East team in the championship series. They will bias toward the Tigers, as they HATE the Rangers; who they associate with George Bush. I have no interest in the NL; but it would be fun to see the Phillies taken out before the World Series. That's just a dirty city...

I’m kinda pulling for Arizona. I think the Tigers have a better chance against them plus we still love Gibby and Tram.
