Answer this question honestly and you'll see why Palin's influence is gone. (Vanity)

Posted on 09/29/2011 1:04:44 PM PDT by Scythian

Let's suppose Cain wins the nomination. Do you think he's going to pal around with Palin on the campaign trail or pick her as VP?

The honest answer is "No". Cain would need independents and Palin has a lot of negatives, also, she's from Alaska, not a key state. The simple truth of the matter is Palin is no longer important as some think she is. And any candidate that latches on to her, or rather, let's Sarah latch on to them could quite possibly end up losing the independents. So, watch for the nominee to distance himself (whoever he might be) from Palin. The base would be with Cain, Palin could only drive potential voters away.

Again, if you think about this honestly, I think her time in the bright lights is coming to an end.

In full disclosure I was a big time Sarah fan, but no longer, Cain is my guy now and I'm not switching away from him.

My take is that conservatives want decisiveness and Sarah has appeared indecisive.

Yeah. I hated the way Bush showed indecisiveness when he failed to attack Afghanistan on Sept 12, 2001. All that crap about "we will respond at a time of OUR choosing"... so indecisive.

I like Cain, and if he’s the nominee, I’ll gladly vote for him. That said, if Gov. Palin asks for my vote, she’ll get it. It’s HER call. I will not be coerced into voting for estblishment candidates anymore, nor will I listen to those who want to jump up and down screaming about getting in already.

I’m not the one running, and I can’t even begin to imagine all the pieces that need to fall into place, and the impact it would have on family and friends alike. Again, it’s her call.

And then there’s the strategies. Sarah always said she would run an unconventional campaign. She’s said it many times. So why do all the jumpers demand that she follows the conventional, up til now, playbook, and announce earlier than is necessary?

I’ll wait. If it happens, it happens and I’m in. If it doesn’t happen, then plan B., or plan C for Cain if you will.

I think Cain would be a great VP pick for Sarah. :-))

Palin is Cain is Bachmann is Santorum. One is as good as another.

I could care less what the nominee looks like or whether or not they wear pants.

Cain is my pick over the two Democrat Lite options, but if Palin enters Cain will drop to a distant last place.

A better question would be: would Palin pick cain as a VP?

But here’s the deal, there are a lot of folks here on the FR that were with her, but are no longer because of her games. Even if she gets in now I’m not with her, the same with many others, when she’s turning off the base, trust me, it’s not a smart move.

So you were a big time Palin “fan,” and then she acquired all those negatives—or she had them already when you were a fan?

Since the latter scenario is the only possible one, there is no logical explanation for why you liked her or for why you dumped her.

That is to say, I don’t trust you.

If that were true you would not be bothering with her. But you can’t shut up about her.

She is NOT running. Let’s stop the fairytale wishes and work to get someone elected who IS running.

The whole “reach out to independents” lie was debunked in the last election with McCain.

I don’t even know why RINOS run for Prez.

Imagine Sarah's answers in a debate, the imagine Cains, do you really think folks are going to flock to Sarah, I think she would look small and wishy washy next to Cain, to be honest, I welcome her in so that this nonsense can end, but there are going to be some disappointed people if she does.

No trashing of Sarah from me. I love Sarah. Will wait for her decision, and if she does not run ... I will vote for Mr. Herman Cain. Just off the top of my head, cause I do not know for certain but, I think Sarah likes Mr. Cain too.

Newt?

Newt would get exactly two votes, yours and Sean Hannity's.

Newt jumped the shark long ago.

Let's suppose Cain wins the nomination. Do you think he's going to pal around with Palin on the campaign trail or pick her as VP?

Sure, why wouldn't he "pal around with her"? They are both big Tea Party people and Sarah helped many Tea Party candidates get elected last November. She has a tremendous following of LOYAL supporters and fans, many of whom would not be involved in politics or elections if it weren't for her. Many people only voted for the GOP ticket in 2008 because of her. Any GOP candidate in 2012 would be crazy to distance themselves from Sarah Palin and her following. As for the VP spot, if Sarah doesn't want to run for POTUS I seriously doubt she would want to be VP.

You just haven't thought this through very well.

And any candidate that latches on to her, or rather, let's Sarah latch on to them could quite possibly end up losing the independents. So, watch for the nominee to distance himself (whoever he might be) from Palin. The base would be with Cain, Palin could only drive potential voters away.

Hogwash. Again, Palin was a huge net PLUS for McCain despite being from "Alaska, not a key state". Independents are through with Obama, period. You seriously think independents are going to be saying "gosh, I hate Obama and love Cain...but, but, I saw him shaking hands with Sarah Palin...so they must be friends...so therefore I want 4 more years of Obama". Yeah, right. NOT.

What you are also saying is that your new love Cain will abandon people and throw them under the bus if politically expedient. JUST LIKE OBAMA. Hmm. What a ringing endorsement for your new love!

Here's what is going to happen. Sarah will announce that she is running and you will go scampering back to her as quickly as you left her. Again, if you think about this honestly, I think her time in the bright lights is coming to an end. Hard to answer questions honestly when the initial supposition is so far fetched (at least as it stands now).

Cain has won some straw polls (one of which he won with fewer than 400 votes), but do any legitimate polls (oxymoron?) show him with more than 10% support?

How much do you know about Herman Cain? I found this out the other day. FLASHBACK: In 2008, Herman Cain praised TARP, chided "free market" purists. I like Herman but he needs to be vetted like everyone else.

Palin = Tea Party
Cain = Tea Party

I’m betting the Tea Partiers stick together.

And BTW, I NEVER thought Perry = Tea Party, but he didn’t mind letting people think he was.
