I suppose the special political status of Cubans may be a factor. They aren’t your typical immigrants. Had Rubio’s parents begun the citizenship process at the time of his birth?

If a pregnant U.S. citizen has her baby while traveling overseas, is that child a U.S. citizen?

In any event, if Obama is a Natural Born Citizen, I don’t see why Rubio shouldn’t be.

Yes, that child would be an American Citizen, but also may be claimed as a citizen of the local where born, dependent of the countries laws.

The status of "Natural Born Citizen" in this case however is undecided law.

His mother had attained US citizenship before his birth. His father had not completed the process at that point.

However, both of his parents were born during the time in which Cuba was a US protectorate, where Cuba managed it’s own internal affairs, but the US managed it’s external affairs.

Whether a US protectorate conveys US citizenship, I don’t know. Regardless, his mother was recognized as a citizen at the time of his birth.

“In any event, if Obama is a Natural Born Citizen, I don’t see why Rubio shouldn’t be.”

But the question about Obama remains unresolved (at least to me).

Direct question:
Do YOU believe Mr. Obama to be a “natural born citizen”?

Apparently you do, IF you also believe Mr. Rubio to be one. It is an undisputed FACT that neither of his parents were naturalized citizens at the time of his birth (legal residents, perhaps, but NOT “naturalized”).

However, it doesn’t matter whether you or I believe Mr. Rubio to be natural-born or not.

The left and their sycophant media is going to RAISE HELL over this. They will not let it rest, period.

This issue is going to be raised before America and it’s going to be raised high, IF Rubio becomes a candidate for the presidential or vice-presidential offices.

Conservatives had better be prepared to answer definitively (perhaps it will take the Courts or Congress to provide that “definitive” answer).

At this time, they definitely ARE NOT “prepared” to provide such an answer.

Just sayin’....

Yes, Congress has addressed this for citizenship purposes. However, according to the State Department's foreign affairs manual, whether that child would be eligible to be President has never been determined by a court of law.

They also state that it is far from certain that citizenship due to a statute is qualification for POTUS either.

I suppose because any definition of the term NBC would actually require a constitutional amendment, not just a statute.

It would be nice if the issue could be legally resolved, so that Rubio would be eligible to run.
