This chart shows the accumulated earthquake energy since about early August around El Hierro in the Canary Islands. This is the volcano group that can generate a 150 foot tall tsunami on the east coast under certain circumstances. Heads up!

Thanks AdmSmith!
THX for all you do hereon, Bro.
LUB, Qx
You all know that I like a good disaster story but, I'm very skeptical of this one.
You mean like the Weather Channel? They were even showing a fashion show the other night hosted by one of the on-camera meteorologists.
So I should be happy we no longer live on the eastern coast of the US, but moved to the Philippines where we only have to worry about typhoons, floods, landslides, terrorism and dengue fever....
;-)
seriously, if it blows, is there a map somewhere that shows where folks would be in danger?
Yes, it’s called a globe :)
Seriously, worst case is 4 miles from the coast on the eastern side of North and South America, but that worst case is highly unlikely.
Looks like it’s calming down a bit now.
IIRC, The Telegraph is the conservative paper in the UK.
Yes, The Telegraph is the Conservative in the UK.
It looks like it could blow, eh?
Miss Slippy and I live in Phoenix. Should we worry? Pack?
The only thing you should worry about is the size and intensity of the eruption...if it erupts big enough or long enough we could get a Cosmic Winter effect and you'd die where-ever you went.
You'd probably be more comfortable dying at home.
So, No, don't pack.
BTW, tell Slip18 that I said Hi and that I still remember when she came to FR.
I hope not but there seems to be a global increase in activity. I’m at ~ 500 feet above sealevel but if this really occurred I would have to make a mad dash to grab a daughter at university in Delaware. I’ve passed the web links to her so she knows I’m not just being an over protective Mom.
I don’t expect this but the girl scout in me says be prepared.
Good for you...I like being prepared.
