Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world's only daily column that is going to use this teeny, tiny space to talk about a huge, but under-acknowledged local problem: moose alcoholism.
As you can see from the disturbing photo above, this is a growing issue in our community, with moose practically dropping everything to chase down Coors trucks and other such madness. We can no longer look the other way.
But our concern is not only for the well being of our local fauna — we can't have our moose developing hangovers or liver disease — but also for people, who appear to be in as much or more danger from the moose drinking problems as they would be if they were their own. Cammie Freed, who was on the scene of the near-moose kegger, elaborates:
“Well, after five years of living here, I finally have proof of our crazy wildlife! Driving by Frisco's Safeway I spotted two moose (Or moosen? Thank you, Brian Regan) over by the Alpine Inn coming my way. I quickly pulled off the road and grabbed my handy dandy new Rebel T2i for some great shots. Now, I know you all have seen photos of a moose, but have you seen Elliot the Moose and his buddy Fred? They were looking to catch some free drafts in the parking lot, but no dice. They created quite the stir, causing people to do stupid things like get 10 ft. away to take photos, or drive off the interstate to watch off the road.
“Thankfully the great Frisco Police Dept. came along and kindly escorted them safely across the interstate, which seemed to be their direction of choice.
“It was great meeting them, and I can't wait to see what Elliot looks like all grown up!”
