Drunken Elk Hides Kids' Swing Set in a Tree
The Local ^

Posted on 09/25/2011 1:58:25 PM PDT by nickcarraway

An elk drunk from eating fermented apples in southern Sweden ended its binge by making off with a family's swing set and hiding it in the woods. Hunter in hand-to-hoof battle with angry elk (12 Sep 11) Drunken elk rescued from Swede's apple tree (7 Sep 11) 'Leffe the moose man' promises elk intimacy (6 Sep 11) A homeowner from Storebro in northern Kalmar County arrived home on Wednesday night to find his garden littered with bits of apple and other signs that an elk had been partying in his back yard, the local Östran and Barometern newspapers reported.

The concerned homeowner also discovered that the children's swing set which normally sat in the yard was missing.

The man immediately called police, who contacted a local hunter to track down the inebriated elk who was thought to possibly be injured.

Drunken elk are common in Sweden during the autumn season when fermenting apples are plentiful, both on the ground and hanging from the branches of trees which many Swedes have in their yards.

While police and the hunter failed to meet up with the prank-playing elk, they did eventually find the family's swing set, propped up in a tree deep in the woods about 500 metres from their home.

Welcome aboard!
Feel free to pull up a chair, relax, and enjoy the randomness.

I don't always enjoy randomness. Sometimes it's okay, and sometimes it's not so okay.

It's kinda hard to predict, you know?

There used to be 78s in my father’s old room in the attic of my grandparents’ house. Probably were sold to a curio collected in the estate auction. I remember one was “Ghost Riders in the Sky.”

I remember one was “Ghost Riders in the Sky.”

The one by Burl Ives or the one by Bing Crosby?

If you say Spike Jones I might cry. :)

Hi there Fan and ‘Face

How about some Gordon Lightfoot, Beatles, The Association, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Jethro Tull (early stuff), Pentangle, Keith Jerrett, .... some classical Deutsche Grammofon recordings of the Brandenburg Concerti, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Borodin, ... and some PDQ Bach (Professor Peter Schikele from the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople.... ;-) Sionnsar was an excentric.

I have been in a dark hole of depression and struggling just to see the light..... and no, not the one at the end of the tunnel. Prayers, please. Thanks. PS: The youngest Sionnsareen is transitioning to a day job with benefits and better pay. She’s back in college and loving it. :-)

Ghost Riders in the Sky? The best rendition I heard was Johnny Cash..... (just my opinion)

Dan Aykoyd does a commercial for Crystal Head vodka for the big chain of liquor stores here. I priced it. It went immediately on Christmas List. LOL!

We had some vodka in the pantry that was left over from a recipe. DP and Anoreth drank it while she was home. (He got rather flaked out, she was the same as always.)

And I thought Dan Akroyd was dead.

Right now, my favorite vodka is still Sobieski (Polish potato vodka)... But I figured we have Halloween coming up. ;-)

Oddly enough, I had all of those except Borodin. I had a lot of stuff by Deutsche Grammofon, too. *sigh*

Hang in there, Honey. The depression will ease with time, as will the pain. No doubt, the shock of the suddenness of the event was massive and therefore, you shouldn't be too discouraged if you don't come out of it overnight.

You are ALWAYS in my prayers!

Nope. He’s alive and well here in Vegas, and I don’t know if he is performing or just enjoying but he’s been here quite a while.

See? I perfect reason to buy it! (I think they said it was $55 a bottle, here. Paying for the skull, no doubt.)
