An elk drunk from eating fermented apples in southern Sweden ended its binge by making off with a family's swing set and hiding it in the woods. Hunter in hand-to-hoof battle with angry elk (12 Sep 11) Drunken elk rescued from Swede's apple tree (7 Sep 11) 'Leffe the moose man' promises elk intimacy (6 Sep 11) A homeowner from Storebro in northern Kalmar County arrived home on Wednesday night to find his garden littered with bits of apple and other signs that an elk had been partying in his back yard, the local Östran and Barometern newspapers reported.
The concerned homeowner also discovered that the children's swing set which normally sat in the yard was missing.
The man immediately called police, who contacted a local hunter to track down the inebriated elk who was thought to possibly be injured.
Drunken elk are common in Sweden during the autumn season when fermenting apples are plentiful, both on the ground and hanging from the branches of trees which many Swedes have in their yards.
While police and the hunter failed to meet up with the prank-playing elk, they did eventually find the family's swing set, propped up in a tree deep in the woods about 500 metres from their home.
Larcenous drunk moose for next month? It’s seasonal!
Having worked for a Swedish company in the past, I know for a fact that it's not just the elk that get drunk and depressed during the fall and winter. It's a wonder that the elk didn't go to Spain for the winter.

If you shoot and butcher a drunken moose is the meat already marinated?
Moose. Bit. Sister.
The moose needs to hit rock bottom before it gets help.
“Drunken Elk Hides Kids’ Swing Set in a Tree”
There’s a whole club of them near here, but they’ve never been any trouble.
BTW, in Europe Elk=Moose. What we call “Elk” (Wapiti) are native only to North America.
my sister bit a moose once...
For his next trick, watch him pull a rabbit out of his hat.
Did this occur at the Farm owned by Mr. Boone?
Swinger Moose. Bit. Sister
Sure, it’s fine with me.
Elk range in forest and forest-edge habitat, feeding on grasses, plants, leaves, and bark. Although native to North America and Eastern Asia, they have adapted well to countries where they have been introduced, including Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand.
... while in the shower eating cheese..
;-)
Didn’t know they were native to Eastern Asia. What do they call them there?
Although it is a bit depressing that the one season I miss the hoofed ruminants are pre-marinating. :)
The elk of southern Siberia and central Asia were once more widespread but today are restricted to the mountain ranges west of Lake Baikal including the Sayan and Altai Mountains of Mongolia and the Tianshan region that borders Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and China’s Xinjiang Province. The habitat of Siberian elk in Asia is similar to that of the Rocky Mountain subspecies in North America. the names are: the Manchurian wapiti, The Tian Shan Wapiti, The Altai Wapiti, or Siberian Elk.
