Immediately following it's FDA approval, Merck went on a nationwide campaign to make the vaccine mandatory, actively urging legislatures in all 50 states to pass laws requiring all school aged girls to be treated with the drug. Following heaving criticism from the media and other organizations, Merck dropped the push for state mandates in February 2006, instead concentrating on major ad campaigns urging the general female population to obtain the vaccine in order to prevent cervical cancer. Texas was the only state to pass laws mandating the vaccine before Merck withdrew it's efforts.

Under the federal law passed in the late 1980s, victims of vaccines may file a claim under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, but cannot sue the pharmaceutical company. Last year, the government added HPV to a list of vaccines, including polio, hepatitis and measles, granted immunity from suit. A New York Post analysis of adverse event reports filed through April 30 of 2008 found that about 20 percent of such reports followed injections of Gardasil.
If victims prove a vaccine likely caused injuries, the program pays a maximum $250,000 for death. The average payment for injury has been $1 million.

Dr. John Iskander, the CDC's acting director for immunization safety, says that the CDC has investigated 10 of the reported deaths and has found no conclusive evidence linking the vaccine. He went on to state that "although it is sad that young, healthy young women die for no apparent reason" there was no conclusive evidence that Gardasil had created the adverse reactions experienced by the dead women, or those suffering from seizures, paralysis and brain damage. The only common side effect of the vaccine, according Dr. Iskander, is fainting.

IMHO, the anecdotal report that Bachmann cited will wind up being supported by the facts down the road.
"Crazy" Bachmann will wind up being proven correct.
Perry always has a fallback career opportunity working as a lobbyist if he is not elected President.
According to a statement released by the American Academy of Pediatrics following the media uproar after Bachmann’s comments, they “recommend that girls receive [the] HPV vaccine around age 11 or 12. That’s because this is the age at which the vaccine produces the best immune response in the body, and because it’s important to protect girls well before the onset of sexual activity.”
That recommendation was echoed by the CDC and American Academy of Family Physicians....
“The American Academy of Pediatrics would like to correct false statements made in the Republican presidential campaign that HPV vaccine is dangerous and can cause mental retardation. There is absolutely no scientific validity to this statement. Since the vaccine has been introduced, more than 35 million doses have been administered, and it has an excellent safety record.”
The other day I read an article that they pushed it on India and after x amount of deaths India stopped giving the shot.
My niece’s daughter has to make routine visits to a local children’s hospital for a heart problem.
They have met mothers who have daughters who were extremly ill after taking Gardisil.
The one Mom says that her daughter went from a girl full of life to a brain addled zombie.
I am sure that doesn’t happen to the majority, but those people are out there.
It should never be mandated until people know the effects that come farther down the road.

I know a young lady who never had a headache in her life. Shortly afer taking gardasil she started having severe headaches...
Conversely, lawyers representing Merck are the picture of honesty.
The same stories are out there about polio and measles vacines. Any medicine will have bad effects for a tiny minority of patients should they also be banned. How many horror stories of girls diing of cervical cancer will come forward. Perry was wrong to try what he did and he has admitted so. People should decide if that is a big enough issue not to support him.
As a mom of a teen girl, I did a lot of searching on this. I have a minor in immunology too. I decided there was enough personal testimony to keep her out of this. The Perry bots will shoot this down, but I would rather err on the side of safety with my daughter. She will not get HPV without exposure to it. I say this after watching a dear friends daughter go through cervical cancer.
Sheesh, this country was founded by folks who were upset about housing British soldiers and paying taxes without representation...what's a little medical injection forced into your body by the government?

This is just one issue with Perry. His snarky little “sound of their name” BS at the debate over the Dream Act was unacceptable. Whether he gets it or not, illegal immigration and pro La Raza stance is not a popular one with the people. I find it unacceptable too.
In a national race, two arguments are taken away running against Obama.
