That’s not fair. You can’t blame obama for the bad US economy and not give Rick any credit for Texas. Like so much else, he didn’t do it all, but he’s been doing pretty good. We reelected him, handily.

The Onion does produce some pretty funny satire. The sad part is that it is EXACTLY how the Democrats will portray this plan, or any plan to reform the Holy Grail of Social Security.

And if I were debating Perry I’d say...

“Governor Perry you come from a state that has led the nation in job growth for 41 straight years. Even George W. Bush couldn’t screw up job growth in Texas! Unfortunately, the rest of the United States doesn’t prosper when gasoline costs over $3 a gallon.”

I love McCotter, the man is a genius and an expert on policy, but I have to agree that his speeches are so intellectual and factual in tone that they lack excitement and passion. Thad needs to hire a speechwriter - preferably Peggy Noonan since Thad adores and idolizes Ronald Reagan and Peggy was Reagan’s speech writer... If nothing else maybe she’d write him a couple of stump speeches on an independent contractor basis. The guy has exceptional intellect, ideas, vision and courage and deserves to be HEARD.

Would you like to elaborate on the “Slave” comment?

I don’t think speeches being “factual and intellectual” are a negative this time. IMO, the public in general is just waiting for somone who does NOT speak in platitudes. Every political conversation I have always goes the same way. The person I’m speaking with says “ do these politicians EVER answer a question?” McCotter ALWAYS does and usually in great detail.
