The 2011 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is at its peak with three active systems. Meanwhile, major inland flooding continues from the remnants of TS Lee. Tropical Storm Maria developed east of the Caribbean Sea. Tropical Storm Nate is nearly stationary in the Bay of Campeche. Hurricane Katia is churning in the Atlantic between the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda.

Tell Maria and Nate to go away!
Here in Pennsylvania we have historic flooding along the Susquehanna River and its tributaries.
Thousands of people are evacuating their homes as we speak. The first deaths from this 100-year flood are being reported.
(Thanks, Nauti, for all your heads-up hurricane threads.)
May you and yours stay safe.
Prayers for all of you experiencing the terrible floods, and to our FRiends in Texas who desperately need rain.
It had to be on the weekend just before a long awaited trip to the Far East. Got to double up on the laundry!
Although the local NWS office is saying that Maria may be downgraded to a tropical wave by the next advisory.
Whatever the case, next week I’m going to be on watch for typhoons, earthquakes and Godzilla!

Maria . . .
(sings)
The most beautiful sound I ever heard:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . .
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word . .
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . .
Maria!
I’ve just met a girl named Maria,
And suddenly that name
Will never be the same
To me.
Maria!
I’ve just kissed a girl named Maria,
And suddenly I’ve found
How wonderful a sound
Can be!
Maria!
Say it loud and there’s music playing,
Say it soft and it’s almost like praying.
Maria,
I’ll never stop saying Maria!
The most beautiful sound I ever heard.
Maria.

Come On NATE
sorry to our friends in the NE
but we need to put out a few fires down here.
Don’t misunderestimate Maria. While she’s struggling now...scuttlebutt says she makes a comeback.
LOL! You crack me up! {{{hugs}}}
I have that West Side Story song on my waterproof MP3 player for swimming laps. Hope it’s not an omen...
You beat me to the punch!
Ha! Great minds...
I predict all hurricanes this year will veer away from Florida.
Sorry for the all caps. Not. ;-)
We’re all hoping Nate provides TX some relief.
OMG—please tell me you aren’t being evacuated.
