The 2011 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is at its peak with three active systems. Meanwhile, major inland flooding continues from the remnants of TS Lee. Tropical Storm Maria developed east of the Caribbean Sea. Tropical Storm Nate is nearly stationary in the Bay of Campeche. Hurricane Katia is churning in the Atlantic between the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda.

So to recap here in southern MD since Aug 23rd we’ve had: one earthquake, one hurricane, yesterday we had a tornado warning, flooding, one sinkhole....what’s next (DON’T ANSWER THAT!)

Thanks for the ping, NautiNurse.
I had planned to be on South Padre Island all next week.
Nate will now determine my fate.

Well as long as people are posting songs and poems and such...
The Mariner’s Hurricane Poem
June - too soon
July - winds fly
August - it must
September - remember
October - it’s over
So, one more month?
Although I remember Opal hitting us down here in Alabama in October 1996!

My Maria,
Don’t you know I have come a long, long way
I’ve been longin’ to see ya
When she’s around she take my blues away...

LOL--the poem would lose its rhythm if "the end of October" was inserted. This is the peak of a busy 2011 season.

While I still think it's asinine to wish for a hurricane, we have far too much of the state on fire with no other options.
So....we need a hu..hu..hurricane.
That was hard.

I wish there was a way to send all our excess water to you Texans! Those fires are horrible...140 house lost tghis week alone!
The best I can do is pray that Nate will head inland to TX with lots of rain but little wind and less damage.

Looks like it, maybe we’ll get a shower or two to dampen the fires.
