P. Manning is OUT. There is talk on ESPN this a.m. that he has had another neck operation recently and that makes him maybe done for weeks months or the year.

Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Line: Buccaneers by 1. Total: 41
If the Buccaneers want to win this game, they'll have to establish LeGarrette Blount. Detroit is susceptible against the run, so if it begins focusing on containing Blount, Freeman should be able to beat the Lions' sorry secondary with some play-action fakes. Tampas QB Josh Freeman struggle with his decision-making. Freeman really had issues reading the blitz against the Patriots in Week 2, and then went on to make some terrible passes into double coverage the following game. Cletus says: Lions by 10. Sorry prognosticators but the secondary is up to the task and CJ could lead the league in scoring. Watch them pussycats growl into the playoffs this year (and lose in the first round).

Watch them pussycats growl into the playoffs this year (and lose in the first round). The NFC is pretty weak this year....if somehow the Lions can beat out the Packers and win the division, they could go a long way. The NFC East and NFC West, might both have division winners with 8-8 records. I think the teams from the two other divisions that should make the playoffs will be Green Bay, Detroit, Atlanta and New Orleans. I think it's anybody's ballgame from there.

We beat them last year in Detroit. I think at least we’ll split the two games. Green Bay is now the hunted, instead of the hunter, we’ll see how it works out.

If the frickin’ Cardinals could make it to a Super Bowl, why not the Lions?

Because the Cardinals picked up Kurt Warner who’s primary talent is being a (temporary) cure for a poorly run organization, but the Lions are continuing their usual stuff.

I think that result might be a foregone conclusion; turns out Jay Cutler sux in an NFC uniform.
Being in Chicago (for now), I’m hoping to get to the Soldier Field game this season (Nov 13) to cheer them on!
Would that I could afford the Turkey-day game against the Pack...if both are in the hunt, that will be a real ^rock-em-sock-em^ game.

Colts wouldn’t have made the playoffs even with Manning. Without Manning they may lose 12 games. By mid-season they will be better off letting Manning heal, dump the coaching staff, and start trading players for next year.
A couple of seasons ago this was the strongest mini-division in football. This season it may be the weakest.
