Don’t Fear Islamic Law in America (NY Slimes Mega-Barf)
NY Times ^ | Sept. 2, 2011 | ELIYAHU STERN

Posted on 09/03/2011 1:28:47 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

MORE than a dozen American states are considering outlawing aspects of Shariah law. Some of these efforts would curtail Muslims from settling disputes over dietary laws and marriage through religious arbitration, while others would go even further in stigmatizing Islamic life: a bill recently passed by the Tennessee General Assembly equates Shariah with a set of rules that promote “the destruction of the national existence of the United States.”

Supporters of these bills contend that such measures are needed to protect the country against homegrown terrorism and safeguard its Judeo-Christian values. The Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has said that “Shariah is a mortal threat to the survival of freedom in the United States and in the world as we know it.”

This is exactly wrong. The crusade against Shariah undermines American democracy, ignores our country’s successful history of religious tolerance and assimilation, and creates a dangerous divide between America and its fastest-growing religious minority.

The suggestion that Shariah threatens American security is disturbingly reminiscent of the accusation, in 19th-century Europe, that Jewish religious law was seditious. In 1807, Napoleon convened an assembly of rabbinic authorities to address the question of whether Jewish law prevented Jews from being loyal citizens of the republic. (They said that it did not.)

That is a very strange argument indeed. It helps to skim the article and summon up vague feelings of moral righteousness, which is precisely what his liberal audience will now proceed to do, rather than actually to read the thing and think about what the author is saying. In fact, the author is arguing that we should not make laws restricting the application of Shari'a in the United States in the 21st century because Jews were discriminated against in France and Germany in the 19th century, as pure a form of non sequitur as it is possible to imagine. He then proceeds to cite neither the proposed legislation itself nor the objectionable aspects of Shari'a at which it is aimed. Once established, a bleary moral equivalency will lead us to the erroneous conclusion that it's all the same thing.

Well, it isn't. There was no well-funded social movement to extend rabbinical law to universal application throughout the world, for one thing, as there is for Shari'a. For another, the legislation is not aimed at preserving Judeo-Christian anything, but at preventing the displacement of secular law that permits freedom of religious expression for all faiths. And third, the notion that such laws will discourage immigration of Muslims is entirely beside the point, the point being that anyone coming to this country must agree to abide by its laws, period, and if anything other is preferable, they shouldn't come here.

To be more blunt, we should not be constrained from protecting our legal system by fear of offending the tender sensibilities of Muslim, Jew, Christian, Zoroastrian, atheist, or devout follower of the Great Cosmic Muffin. If that serves to remind the good Professor of other oppressions to other people in other times, it's his problem, not ours.

NYT will be the first (and the loudest) to scream, “UNFAIR!” when the islamists tell them that they can’t support homos and abortionists. You have to wear blinders to be a liberal.

Just wait until WalMart and other stores are made to hide or cover pork products and alcohol beverages. Then too, any Kosher foods as well all in the name of Muslim sensitivity.

CNN Muslim in America show just finished with Soledid Obrien, BARF!!!

My question is: If being Islam or Muslim is so liberating and empowering for both male and females, why are they fleeing their own so-called great countries to come to America?

Are Muslims in America assimilating and becoming American, NO they are not. Much like the new generation of Mexicans, they are NOT either.

Wake up America, it’s way past time you pull your head out!

After this genius said
“A recent Pew Research Center poll found that Muslim Americans exhibit the highest level of integration among major American religious groups, expressing greater degrees of tolerance toward people of other faiths than do Protestants, Catholics or Jews.”
We know that he is totally clueless. How can he use a biased poll that totally ignores reality to back up the rest of his mindless analysis.
Given that every month we hear about those integrated American Muslims committing terrorist acts either here or in far away places such as Somalia. That is all we need to know to see that this poll is totally rubbish!

Yes, and let’s not forget about this peace loving Muslim Professional Muzzammil Hassan.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,493645,00.html

Mr. Muzzammil made this statement regarding his so-called Bridges TV station.

“Every day on television we are barraged by stories of a ‘Muslim extremist, militant, terrorist, or insurgent,’” Hassan said in the 2004 release. “But the stories that are missing are the countless stories of Muslim tolerance, progress, diversity, service and excellence that Bridges TV hopes to tell.”

Wait -- we don't have to.

Just look at Israel.

Cheers!
