Mystery of DB Cooper air stewardess who was sent to a Nunnery... but was it part of a witness protection programme?
It is America's most notorious unsolved criminal case which, over the past four decades, has had enough twists and turns to match any film script.
So it is not entirely surprising that the latest revelation is one straight out of Hollywood.
The stewardess who famously dealt with the elusive DB Cooper during the Northwest Airlines hijacking and robbery of 1971 spent more than a decade in a Nunnery, in what experts believe was part of a witness protection programme.

Miss Mucklow now lives a quiet life in central Oregon under a different name but has co-operated with the ongoing DB Cooper investigation, FBI spokeswoman Ayn Sandalo Dietrich said.
Her role may, however, become more important than ever now after a woman came out to say she believed her uncle was DB Cooper.
Fascinating article, - with Several Photos at link.

Cool...Author’s dream!!
This reminds me of the Anastasia Romanov mystery/misdirection.

Hey, boy this is getting good!
There will be D. B. Cooper claimants and those in the “know” for the next 50 years. When I was a young boy there were Billy the Kid and Jesse James claimants. My grandfather was a believer of the myth that Bob Ford did not really kill Jesse.(My grandfather was alive when James was killed.)
I seem to recall that all the bill’s numbers were recorded, and none of the money was ever spent, and the only bills recovered were the ones found and turned in mentioned in the article. If none of the money turned up, it does seem likely that the guy must have died with his loot???
Witness protection from who???
She may have been in a witness protection program a decade after the hijacking, but she did not go into it because of the 1971 hijacking. Girls have all sorts of weird reasons for going into the nunnery, the most famous example was actress Delores Hart.
The hijacking was solved years ago, D.B. Cooper was Richard Floyd McCoy, Jr. McCoy lost the money in 1971 when it blew away from him when he jumped out of a plane going 250 mph, so he had to do it all over again the next year - and then he got caught when he did it the second time.

How about they want to love and serve God? The cloistered ones are praying for all of OUR sins.
I have never seen that mentioned before. Sounds like a preponderance of evidence to me.
Thanks for the post and the link.
McCoy was ruled out as Cooper due to him having been elsewhere.
McCoy was not elsewhere. Maneuvers of the Utah Air National Guard were not held on Thanksgiving Eve. McCoy was D B Cooper, and McCoy did the out-the-rear-door hijack of a Boeing 727...... twice.
Supposedly thy now have Cooper’s DNA. It should be easy enough to check if they were the same person.
If McCoy was D B Cooper, then why is this still an open case, and why are the feds still searching for him?
PR? Job security?
I like this theory...a comment from the article...
“Seriously, I don’t think the guy jumped - I think it was a ruse to make people think he jumped and then he hid on the plane, probably in some maintenance cubby, until things quieted down, then he slipped away with the money. Everyone was ordered into the cabin, then he opened the rear door threw a couple of parachutes out with one bundle of money and then went to his hiding place on the plane. With the hijacking taking place in such close proximity to the Boeing manufacturing plant in Seattle this man most likely worked for Boeing and therefore would know the ins and outs of an airplane and just where to hide without being found. Just my humble theory....”
The pilot and copilot documented D.B. Cooper’s jump time:
“At approximately 7:40 pm the 727 took off with only Cooper, pilot Scott, flight attendant Mucklow, copilot Rataczak, and flight engineer H.E. Anderson aboard.
“The crew soon noticed a subjective change of air pressure, indicating that the aft door was open.
“At approximately 8:13 pm, the aircraft’s tail section sustained a sudden upward movement, significant enough to require trimming to bring the plane back to level flight.”

“At approximately 10:15 pm, Scott and Rataczak landed the 727, with the aft airstair still deployed, at Reno Airport. FBI agents, state troopers, sheriff’s deputies, and Reno police surrounded the jet, as it had not yet been determined with certainty that Cooper was no longer aboard; - but an armed search quickly confirmed that he was gone.”
