Today marks the anniversary of “The Oath” I swore in 1963 to defend our country from all enemies foreign and domestic.
I’ve checked things out and there is no expiration date on that oath.
I reported aboard my ship in April 64 and served the balance of my enlistment aboard the USS PIEDMONT (AD-17) save my time in Diving School in Subic Bay, PI.
Looking back, I’m very proud to have served our country for all of you.
Last year I dug my Dress Blue uniform from the cedar chest and wore it to church for the Veteran’s Day service. Okay, I did indeed present my “ode of cedar” fragrance. It was a tight squeeze into my 47 year old uniform but I proudly wore it to the 2 morning worship services that were dedicated to our local veterans. A choir of veterans sang two songs during the services. We had about 80 veterans on stage singing “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” and another song. I look forward to Veteran’s Day Services in November. Not sure if I’ll wear my uniform, but I’ll proudly join my fellow Vet’s in the choir.
Haven’t seen one of THOSE in a while! LOL!
Hi Pandy! I love what you’ve written!! *HUGS* to your HORSES! Thank you so much! Hope you are doing well! :)
"Classy woman in Washington, representing our
Grand United States of America
SHOULD be PROUD to look like!"
And, I haven't seen class, dignity, respect, honor, knowledge and a sense of "I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN" from our WH in a long time either!
I am SO ready for "Take out the Trash Day" November 6, 2012!
(And I'll bet our TROOPS can't either - even though they can't tell us!)
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!
Wow, DD! Did Mrs.DD get a pic of you, by any chance?
I would LOVE to see it - and you can BET YOUR LIFE - I will Salute!
Well, I’ll say AMEN to THAT!
She supposedly took a secret trip to Target and I heard a reporter say “Yeah, and thats why there was an AP reporter/photographer taking her picture.” You can tell she’s a Walmartian shopper. I’m sure she didn’t buy that expensive purse at Target’s. She’s trying to tell the public that she’s just like we are....a Target shopper! SHE MUST NOT BE GETTING ENOUGH ATTENTION LATELY!!! LOL!
You all had a beautiful thread today...I enjoyed everyone’s pretty graphics and Yorkie, I loved those RED TELEPHONES!!
And we are proud that you served this wonderful country and have sweet memories of it.
My hubby was a 4 year Navy man, too. He was a Hospital Corpsman, 2nd class, I think....I believe that’s what Conor was, too.
I always told my hubby that I fell in love with that cute little skinny uniform.....LOL! Hey, I even learned to iron those whites and you know how particular that was! I loved the whites!! He wore the Navy dress uniform for our wedding. Very nice!
In my post to DD, I meant to say that Obama pronounces Hospital Corpsman as (Hospital (Corpse) Man)! I will never forget him saying that and he said it 3 times in that little speech. Terrible!!
Well, as a matter of fact she did...
I’ve always said that Navy Brides serve right alongside their husbands.
I did the ironing of my whites - insideout.
Forgot to mention... I wore my uniform for two reasons
1. I’m very proud of my service
2. Because I could still squeeze into it. :^)
You should be proud to get into your uniform. I know one thing for sure....my husband would not have gotten into his uniform his last 20 years. Remember he was an Institutional Food Salesman and we had samples of everything....LOL! Every restaurant or school that he called on would offer him hot homemade rolls, a nice slice of pie and it becomes a good/bad habit. LOL!
Great picture, Dave.
Hey, you’re looking good DD. If I remember correctly, you wore that uniform on a corner in Fresno while supporting our troops.
Thank you for your service. We appreciate your service to our country.
Good friends in for talk and cheer
What happiness abounding here
Good friends in, the best times yet
What idiot invented the televison set...:O)
jotted it down years ago, after we had our friends in for a great evening of just friendship talking...GG
