Hey, Cyndi was a helluva musical arranger, whatever you thought of her lyrics and voice. "Girls just Wanna Have Fun" is timeless, though tacky.

I still get a kick out of "When You Were Mine". Not everone's cup of tea, but she had talent.

Ah, 1986...............You missed Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms".

Now, there is a timeless album the grunge generations will never match.

Funny, how the liberals all thought and applauded it as an anti-military album, and when I saw them live, they camee out dressed as partisans, not exactly a pacifist message, though still perhaps leftist.

I was a teenager too in the 1980’s when Reagan undid a lot of the mess we see now. The issue is immigration and the media, they have moved the paradigm to make people believe Liberal is moderate and Conservative is out of the mainstream.

Inch by inch, till we all scream about our two minutes of hate.

The feeling was more like watching a big asteroid getting closer and closer to landing right on top of me.

Speaking of 80’s music :)

Agree...Hey come to think of it...the 80’s was the ONLY decade for metal right? At least in the mainstream.

Stop blaming schools for parental and other familial failings.

Seriously - families don’t care for family members anymore. Older parents are shoved into homes to be cared for by others, either on the family’s dime, or usually, society’s.

Brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. are left to fend for themselves, rather than swallow some pride and ask for help from their family, even extended.

The government has taken the place of the ‘dad’ in over 50% of the black family households by giving food stamps, insurance, etc.

Who's responsible for that?

Socialist indoctrination in socialist-funded government schools since the mid-1800 to early 1900s.

The government schools first taught children to think generically about their faith. Then it was secular with a sprinkle of prayer. Now it is utterly godless.

Is it any wonder the American family is falling apart? Is a “duh” needed here?

There’s good country music out there now.

Listen to Trace Adkins, Eric Church (sounds like a young George Strait), Justin Moore, Brett Eldridge, Lee Brice, Kelly Willis, the Band Perry or Zac Brown Band (beautiful harmonies).

I wish Selleck would finish the story of Magnum. I want to know what became of him.....Those mountain cop shows he does are OK, but for me Magnum is the 80’s.

The family is responsible.

Frankly, I don’t want schools teaching religion. That’s what my wife and I (plus our church family) are for. Schools should teach “readin’, writin’ and ‘rithmatic”.

I for one am personally happy if the local churches took back education - and taught their parishioners children. We tithe, we give out of our abundance. I’d be fine with that. However, “government” or “secular” (same thing today) schools should not pretend to try to teach morality or God’s Word.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No school is religiously, politically, or culturally neutral. None! Today's godless government schools are no more religiously neutral that the first government schools that offered up lukewarm and generic Protestantism in the mid-1800s to early 1900s.

Frankly, I want all government schools shut down! Why? Because NONE of them are religiously neutral.

Frankly,I don't want **my** tax dollars to be used to teach children to think atheistically. Something with which you seem very comfortable.

Frankly,I don't want my tax dollars used to teach children think in the manner of any religion, my own, or any other.

Get government out of the education business. It is axiomatic. The education of children is never religiously, politically, or culturally neutral!

C’mon folks. Step out of the “wayback” machine. There is so much good music being made today. You just have to go out and find it!
