Mysterious colored dots on our mailboxes just showed up the last day or two. What are these about?

What are these about? Somebody has put mysterious dots on the mailboxes in my subdivision in the last day or two. These are thick reflective dots about an inch in diameter. The one dot on my mailbox is yellow. My next door neighbor has a red dot. My other next door neighbor has 3 green dots. Neighbor down the street has 2 greens and a blue on theirs. They are on both sides of the mailbox, stuck right onto the mailbox itself, not the post. I drove a little throughout the town and many mailboxes have no dots on their mailbox, while their next door neighbor has the dot(s).

Fema - blue dots mean you are the first to shuffled off to the rail cars, Yellow dots second and so on! Now you don’t want a red dot cause......(/sarcasm)

Having skimmed through some of your posts, I hope you’ll try writing a comedy novel sometime - or maybe you have already. (If one’s available, I’d like to know about it.) You have a gift.

Thank you for the kind words. Matter of fact I do write elsewhere, but always with an alias. I’m trying to get through life incognito. :)

I would ask neighbors if they know what is source, then I would bring it up at next HOA meeting. Have you seen them in other subdivisions?
Could also contact city or county and inquire...

Lets the mailman know what size chocolate ration to put in your box.
Three green dots = model citizen and/or member of protected class = 2.5 ounces.

The original bums and tramps (from the mid-1860’s through the 1950’s) used similar markings to show which houses were “easy taps” for free meals.....
And which should be avoided as dangers.

Remove the dots and if that is not possible, replace the mailboxes. Immediately, if not sooner.

Get rid of any and all “dots.”

Now seriously, I was reading somewhere that either gangs or would be thieves have been using symbols to mark their marks. Such as an arrow means seldom home and an X means home all day, etc. After observing they place a mart as a way to determine the best time of day, if any to target your home. Not sure if they would use dots that way, but that is the first thing I thought of. And if I remember it correctly what I read, this has been done in places in Europe over the last several years though not with dots.Hobo symbols?

Local newspaper uses them around here to know which driveways to throw papers at. I learned this when I pried the dot off my mailbox - they stopped delivering the paper the next day.
