On the eve of Hurricane Irene making landfall, CBS News turned to disgraced former new Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and referred to him as an "expert."

Nagin used the opportunity to plug his "self-published" book.

a nation in which Barack Obama is president deserves to have Nagin as a municipal hurricane preparedness expert; in fact, it deserves to have Jack Kervorkian as surgeon general.

Expert on “New Orleans was a chocolate city before Katrina. It is going to be a choclate city after.”

Was he billed as an Expert on what not to do?

Do the people in the MSM realize how much of a parody they have become? They are so “out of it” that they think of Ray Nagin as some expert in disaster issues??????

Or, since Nagin is a good Democrat, and the MSM and liberals politicized Hurricane Katrina, do they think that Nagin is an innocent victim, while George Bush is the person who was to blame for all that happened due to Katrina????????

Funny, I always thought of him more as an evacuation expert, seeing as he did such a marvelous job with getting the city of New Orleans to head out before the hurricane, of which they had FIVE DAYS NOTICE OF ITS APPROACH, to head out and stay safe.

Hmmm. Guess I was wrong.

Why do liberals, esp. a black liberal in this case, get a pass on such a racist comment that he wants his city to be a chocolate city?????

Can you imagine if the mayor of some city with few minorities said that he wants his city to be a vanilla city??? That he thinks of his city as a cloud city????

But, while we conservatives can be outraged by such comments, there is no outrage in the MSM or among the liberals who hyperventilate about anything said by a conservative that could be construed as racist or bigoted.

I don't think they care. They would do anything for ratings. Controversy, not to mention bad judgment, equals ratings. And of course there is that handful of people out there who are saying, "yeah, Ray Nagin! He would know what to do!"

I don't know if anyone realizes how far gone they are. I saw an advertisement in the subway for "LGBT-friendly foster parents." I don't think any fiction writer from hell could have dreamed a worse idea, which is obviously believed to be a wonderful idea.

I thought this was weird at first. Then, I thought about our treasury secretary, and many of the other officials in this administration, and I realized, this is the new normal.

Somebody call it "unexpected," please. I need another drink.

Au Contraire! Ray-Ray had 5 days notice. He didn’t get serious and mention the word ‘evacuation’ until SUNDAY. ONE day before landfall. Whoever left N.O. did so because they had more sense than the local officials- who were in denial, worried about revenue and image.
Like the image of 10+ ft of water, citywide, helped!

The only thing Ray-Ray evacuated successfully in Katrina was his intestinal tract.
He’s delusional AND stupid- with incompetent icing.

No thanks to Nagin, 80% of the population, which pre-Katrina was almost 500,000, evacuated themselves before the storm came through.

There is something to be said for experts that have done everything wrong ... at least they can tell you what not to do

Nagin messing up the evacuation is only half the story here. CBS is further perpetuating the lie that New Orleans was devastated by the hurricane. Katrina made landfall east of New Orleans. The majority of the damage to New Orleans was a lack of preparedness for flooding which occurred in the aftermath when the dikes broke. The local Democrat-controlled dike commission had been preparing to divert funds for maintenance to the construction of a casino.
