Looks like from all the models that most of the East Coast will be under the gun in a few days from Hurricane Irene, so now is the time to start stocking up on water, ammo, canned food, toilet paper, gas and even an emergency generator. I live outside of Washington D.C. and remember the last time that T.S. Isabel hit, it took over 2 weeks to get the power back on and the panic that that caused. I also went down to New Orleans after Katrina and saw that first hand, so don't wait start stocking up now.
LOL!! Actually, she was older and she hit him with her cane. The young man didn’t know what to do.. He just looked at her completely stunned. She then reached.. slowly, and grabbed the milk. It was one of the strangest things I had ever seen. The man was in his early 20’s and I would have loved to have heard the explanation as to how he got a knot on his head!!
Amen to that.
We'll happily take one of those tropical depressions that dumps rain on us for two or three days.
Get three times the bottled water you think you will need
Definitely have cash on hand...No power no ATM
Get wet naps or baby wipes to clean up
Get some throw away cheap dinnerware and cups and utensils
Manual can opener
Minimum have a 12 gauge and Plenty of shells
Candles
Flash lights and extra batteries
Plenty of can goods
Fill up propane tanks for BBQ grill
Dry cereal
Family plan in case you get separated
Not sure where you are but we’ll take the rain - one “handout” I will gladly take!
Hey neighbor only thing between you and me is that 17 mile long bridge :) A bay hurricane would really be an event around here
I’ve always appreciated the landscaping and green everywhere here Allegra! But you would be shocked at how brown the grass along the roads is becoming. It is beginning to look like West Texas around here!
It sure would be a big event. I hope it doesn’t knock power out for long if at all....
Rust but Terrify.
Oh, I'm here...my first summer home since 2003.
It isn't much different from those past seven summers I spent in the desert. :)
Glad you are home, but sure wish is was nice and green for ya! Are you done over there?
Yep..... Indianhead alumni. Retired in 94 went reserves for 5 more. Then went to work for uncle sugar again as a civilian.
Hope yer well !
Stay Safe an check my FR page if ya get time.
For at least the rest of this year.
I may go to Afghanistan or Bahrain early next year. I've been approached about both places.
They move on up ~ and slow down a bit ~ and rain even more.
Our worst ever storm here was a tropical storm ~ not even a hurricane ~ and all it did was stop in the Mid Atlantic and rain for a very long time. Tore out interstate quality bridges ~ just pulled out the steel, shucked off the concrete, and trimmed the bank so it looked primeval!
I’ve lived through extreme snowstorms in the Midwest and East Coast and I’ve never understood people’s insatiable desires for milk and monstrous bowel movements at the first word of snow.

They start the season with rye grass but in mid-June that is replaced with Bermuda grass as it can withstand 95 degrees heat. Although the heat wave you're having now must be a challenge for the groundsmen.
Sorry you won't get any rain from Irene.
Freepers in the path of the storm - stay safe.
I had actually thought that maybe.. just maybe, more people are lactose intolerant than thought before. What is it about snow that makes you crave ice cream and go to the bathroom forty two times in one day? LOL!!
Unfortunately I have St Augustine and it needs water, desperately. Even my sprinkler system isn’t able to keep up!
Really. Some poor news poodle will be assigned to stand out in the middle of Rockville Pike talking about how tragic it is that the electricity is out while being splashed by panel trucks.
