Ya ever watch “Chopped”? Two things I’ve noticed about it. One, they have a high proportion of gay chefs on the show, understandable seeing as how the host, Ted Allen is gay.

Second, a number of those chefs keep seeming to nip there fingers with the knife or a blade from a running blender, etc.

Once they wouldn’t eat the dish prepared by a chef with the bloody finger.

Just wondering what will happen when a flaming gay chef nips his finger.

I’ve always gotten a creepy feeling that Bordain trolls the back alleys of Thailand looking for “ladyboys” when the cameras are off.

I agree, that guy looks like a stranger dude. Swears too much on camera. I'm sure Zimmern on Bizzare Foods is no angel but he comes across as an honest critic. Loves food and presents himself well. Plus he is funny with his Curly expressions.

I refuse to buy margarine-

I eat butter ONLY and steak, and vegetables

almost nothing from a box or can

I get greet from my, margarine eating sister for using butter and eating this way because “it is so fattening” (I am 6’4 and a relatively athletic 220 pounds- she is 5’6 and almost 300 pounds)

A modified Adkins was the best thing i ever did- protien (a little bit) at each meal and snack- and I am never hungry - I drink hot tea with honey and it kills my appetite a lot too.

OH, I love Gordon Ramsey! What’s not to like about a guy who’s favorite recipe is shepherds pie AND is good looking too? He can do the snobby stuff and ‘normal’ food. Tough, straight talker too. Never miss him!

“... What makes someone a chef..”

I said “chef type people” as a way of defining someone who has gone to a culinary school. I guess they graduate as a “chef”. I know that some culinary schools are very prestigious and to say that you went to one.. well, very “ooh-la-la”.

Bourdain is definately a lib blow hard, he admits it on occasion. It’s just refreshing to not have psuedo-celebs always heaping love on eachother. I like Fieri too, or I should say I like that diners show, but the Poochy comment was hilarious and spot on. In my opinion.

I could care less about what any of them think is healthy. I just think it’s funny when Bourdain makes fun of them all. The big head comments about that DeLaurentiis chick was pretty funny too.

I'm reading Bordain's book Medium Raw now... about 1/2 way through. Beginning of book he talks about first working for Food Network and how he himself "sold-out" ... the writing could use some editing (it tends to ramble on too long in some instance), but I like it.

Regarding his show "No Reservations" - if you get a chance, try to watch the episode where he comes down here to Texas and spends time with Terrible Teddy Nugent... they fire off all kinds of weapons.

By the way, Bordain's wife Octavia is cool (believe she's Sardinian).

I like Bourdain’s show but he seems to be more of an expert on alchohol intake than food. I’m thinking he had a few tee many martooni’s and went on a rant.

The Ted Nugent show was a hoot...Bourdain looked to me like he had a great time, which he seems to have every place he goes. I like his program.

Funny/true: A stranger came into our little bar/restaurant last night. He had a beer. He politely asked if the bartender could turn turn on the Philadelphia/Pittsburgh football game?

From the end of the bar came this reply from an elderly regular: "Sir, this is not a sports bar, it is a cooking channel bar".

“... we just need to have it a little less often”

I hear you!! My menu for tonight is grilled chicken breasts and a side of broccoli/baby carrots/squash (I simmer with some garlic) and a bit of butter. Desert is watermelon. I am still debating the starch dish... my thought is new potatoes/parsley/butter/pepper. To some folks, the butter for this is decadent but I use it in smaller amounts.

Same here, ugh. He is creepy.

Rachel is ok, but he's right about Paula. Her recipes aren't that good. Coincidentally, I made her chili (halved the beans and still too many - real chili doesn't have beans) and cornbread waffles last night and the consensus was eh. She's remained the spokesperson for Smithville hams even after they were busted for hiring illegals. Sorry, Paula, that's the one thing I can never forgive.

The show where Gordon Ramsay comes to an old failing restaurant and turns it into a scuccessful place is just great.

I remember one show where this big italian guy was ruining the place for his family- and he was totally unaware.

During the filming a mafia collector showed up to try to collect money and almost got the beat-down put on him...

I amagine most people are not so happy when th emafia collector comes around.

Paula is definitely a RAT. Remember back during the campaign when she had Moochelle on her show? She caught flak over that so promised to have on Mrs. McCain, but never did.

in a restaurant, it's "lots of cream, butter, salt and pepper held together with a little potato.."

And sugar.

None of these shows are about cooking or travel and are just another form of entertainment.

“trolling for ladyboys”....that’s always been exactly my reaction to this smarmy sybarite.

Wish I owned a restaurant so I could throw him out of it.

I was a manager in a margarine factory and I can tell you that you’re 100% correct. Disgusting stuff. We also had a butter line, too and nothing is sexier than a 50lb block of butter that we’d make and sell to institutional/commercial users.
