It takes a year to add a burka?
Their dues will go back to Obama's campaign coffers.

So some military person who lost his/her legs to a IED shouldn’t be allowed to summit the Statue of Liberty because of the cost of retro-fit? Put yourself in a wheelchair for your daily life. See how you like it. I have no problems with helping the handicapped and it should be subsidised by the taxpayer at all businesses. Of that I have no doubt.
After the last renovation - $230 million worth - there was still hundreds of millions left - can’t leave money laying around unused, now can we? (Of course, every cent will be accounted for - cough cough)

Seems appropriate. Maybe we can re-open it next November.
Don’t pull that phoney patriotism on me jerk. You can’t get a handicapped veteran up there for less than $27 million? You are a total idiot.
I’m happy I got up to the top of the WTC in the early 90s.
You better pray that Jim doesn’t see that.
Hey, send it to him. I stand by everything I post.
So long.
What??!! They just spent millions a few years ago doing a renovation that was supposed to add years to the life of the statue, and it was closed for a couple of years while the work went on. I believe it included extensive work on the foundation as well.
So what’s left to do? Wheelchair access to the top, paid for with “stimulus” money...??
It was! It was!
There was over 600 million and counting DONATED by citizens for the last big restoration - in 1986 - they spent $230 million - and some since - but there should be at least $27 million left.
No tax dollars should be involved.
Now you can calm down? ;o)
I am sorry for people in wheelchairs, but spending money on a trip up the statue of liberty is of secondary importance when the country is broke and people are hungry and homeless.
You can think the best way to spend $27 million to help veterans is to put an elevator in the statue of liberty?
If Jim Rob kicks me out over this then so be it.
I think you under estimate him.
Statue of Liberty renovation includes second pedestal staircase - August 09, 2010
They are putting in a second staircase.
It has been 25 years since the last renovation.
How can I calm down when wounded veterans are being denied access to the crown?
