FReeper Fur-babies
Free Republic | 08/07/2011 | Bubby (He made me do it)

There are many here on Free Republic that absolutely love our "Fru-babies". We post pics and follow each other, well I thought it would be terrific if we post the pictures of our 'babies'.

I don't know about you all but mine 'get me through' these nightmarish days. They love me no matter what. They are there and want to be with me no matter what. That includes the way I now look in the mornings! LOL!

Show YOUR babies here... :) Here are a few of mine both past and present...

Marrow bones...the house looks like there’s a serious archeological dig going on w/ them lying all around; rawhide chews, don’t last very long. Once he cleans out the marrow from the center of the bone, I *reuse* it by stuffing in some nutella or peanut butter. Keeps him busy for 5 minutes.

Right off they remind me of one of the newer breeds (introduced recently) that are of about the same size but are black. Their hair is such that its almost water proof and they are in that class as well. Can’t remember the name and not patient enough to look it up on AKC site..right now.

In fact iirc, they are from the same general area as yours.

Sounds like a great disposition and a wonderful pet.

You are right. I was going to breed; but only Ike now; one it is too darn hard at my age to have pups 24/7 for eight weeks and some of the breeders are just plain crooks. I never recommend a breeder. You can find perfectly good dogs even pure breeds in the many facilities and rescues if you are looking for a specific breed. Besides they are allowing many non breed specific to show in agility; etc. I love showing and will title Ike out. Keeley and Rosey are champions; but have been retired. I have always had pound puppies and will until the day I expire. When this pack goes; will will adopt older dogs because they need a chance to live out their days loved.

He was starved, had his ears cut with scissors, and put into an open air kennel during a tornado.

Despicable absolutely despicable. Those people that did that should have their ears cut with scissors and starved.

Don't you find that when you have a rescue that has been through hell, that they are the most affectionate? It's almost like they make an extra effort to say 'thank you' for helping me". Good for you fk.

The handler is a real professional. He knew this dog and he knew the dog and his owner behind him.

I am titling Ike out because his parents are big champions and they produced in him an exceptionally conformed dog with a great temperament. It would be a crime not too.

Just give me 3 minutes with those thugs. People can be despicable. Yes, and he is very affectionate. When Mr. freekitty brought him home it was like he had always been with us.

Absolutely. There are breed specific rescues even outside of the normal shelters. I’m guessing all breeds have a breed specific shelter. There are for collies, goldens, tervurens, jack russels etc. It’s wonderful what you are doing and the outlook you have.

A rescue shelter would be where I’ll go if I decide to get another dog. I’ve been without a k9 since the 80’s but this thread has given me the urge to start looking again and I’m not getting any younger so...

Yes I am a believer. Around that time, I became sort of a believer but I wasn’t firm with my belief. The funny thing was, I knew God was on my side when an orange cat just like the one my late father got me as a kid came around when I almost went to the other side. I also knew God was taking suggestions from one of his angels that day too.. );. I still miss him to this day. He was sort of the buffer against my mom’s emotional abuse.

Now I’m out of that house and I’ve moved into another ex cult member’s basement apartment. I’m still getting settled, but it’s been great for me.

We fought long and hard to get spinoni recognized (long story, lots of interesting stuff, but not for public consumption). The breed was in the Misc group longer than any other but they were finally recognized after lots and lots of work. Now, seems like AKC has eased the process and there have been breeds I’ve never heard of being recognized. I don’t even know them all (and I used to know ever AKC breed, back in the day).
BTW spinoni (spinone is single, spinoni is plural) come in either brown (which can be brown and white or brown roan), orange (same thing, orange and white or orange roan) or white, altho some whites really have some orange on them but it’s very pale. Most of them are roans.

Y'all started this after I shut the confuser down last night, so late to the party:

Photobucket

That's Miki and Keko, who obviously do not like each other. The Siamese is at least 50% bigger than than Keko, despite the way they look here. He just has a small head.
