Question Re: Super Congress

I keep hearing that anyone who voted against the bill cannot be in the Super Congress. Is this true? Are conservatives really banned from the Super Congress?

The gang of six, three from each party, to work on the US debt... decide which programs to cut, raise taxes, etc. and how to shrink the debt.

Unfortunately, it is completely balanced and will probably end in stalemate.

Lessee, 535 Congressmen and Senators right? Twelve superdudes will write the laws.

That means 523 Congressmen and Senators will be increasingly expected to rubber stamp the diktats of Dear Leader.

It also means I and hundreds of millions of other Americans no longer have law making representation.

It stinks. While it does not violate the letter of our Constitution it is a kick to the groin of our Declaration of Independence.

We are on the cusp of an oligarchy. I wrote my Congressman and Sen Marco Rubio to refuse to participate until they are allowed input to the Laws I must live under.

That was all rumor and unnamed sources.

If you have a quote from someone actually responsible for making the decisions, please cite it.

As I've said a few times, the Super Congress will be filled with 6 RINO's, and 6 jerkoffs from the Left...the vote would otherwise be "Partisan", where a Republican would vote AGAINST raising taxes.

In the end, America loses in this setup anyway, as a 6-6 tie is "broken" by the POTUS hisself, and that's how it will go.

No, you Google it.

Better yet, learn to question everything you hear and to check out rumors before reporting them as fact.

Senate and House leaders have repeatedly said that those rumors are false. I posted one link earlier, and here’s another:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2011/aug/2/picket-lawmakers-remain-leery-super-congress/

’ . . . Senator Reid noted that those who vote against the debt ceiling bill could still have a chance to be on the committee, ‘because people can vote against this bill and still think the joint committee is a good idea.’ However, he also cautioned that those who were critical of the super congress are not likely to be appointed.

A spokesman for Senator McConnell reportedly said the Kentucky Republican would also not look at whether or not a Republican Senator voted for the bill as a criteria for an appointment on the joint committee. . . “

I thought there would be 12, 6 from each party.

I heard three. Then again, I could be wrong or misunderstood.

No. The president has no part in this. A tie would result in predefined automatic cuts to defense and other discretionary funding.

They may be on to something. If they do a good enough job, fire the entire congress, let us vote for 12 comrades for the central committee, and maybe we can use this method to get a “smaller gubmint”. Twelve might spend less money than 535 - not enough time in the day for lobbyists to bug 12 versus 535. Sure would save on campaign costs. /sarc

How many people think that this "committee" will agree on anything?
OK how many think that this was set up for huge cuts in defense to kick in when they don't agree?
How many think the idiot GOP who didn't see this coming will then go along with big tax increases while telling us that "they didn't want defense to be gutted"?
Now hoe many still believe the GOP won the Debt Deal?

A ‘Super Congress’ is an unConstitutional committee of 12 which will ‘decide’ on the ‘best way forward’ to ‘reduce costs’ of government and ‘recommend revenue’ taxes.

AKA, the Politburo, or, the Grand Soviet.

Soon, this rubber stamp will simply auto-authorize whatever 0bama and the CAP/Storm/EPA/Czar(new name)/SEIU Muslim staffers put in front of them, and there will be no need for Congress to do anything but declare special days for this or that, or, honor certain persons with medals.

Then, Congress will be eliminated to save money on the $200+T debt, including unfunded obligations, as part of their ‘fair share.’

So will say 0bama. So shall it be done.

I have a feeling the Republican (RINO) leadership will have no interest in a Conservative “creating problems” for their “friends across the aisle”.
