I rarely post an article, even more rare that I post a vanity. I feel that this is a topic that involves everybody, both pro and against. I have a few thoughts of my own, but I would also like to hear from heads and tails. Law enforcement, if they wish, please add your viewpoints; I am certain that you have a unique perspective. I'm hoping that this doesn't turn into a flame war.

I will submit from the start that I do not use drugs. So if anybody wants to issue a blanket statement that states 'If you don't use them, why be afraid if you have nothing to hide.' I regard that statement as analogous to 'if you have nothing to hide, why not submit to your house being search at will." Both statements are totalitaian canards by nature. They are disingenuous at best. Horrific at the worst.

There is something I want to address, a peculiar, non-traditional method that our government imposes, a dictum that seems to be the only solution for any problem that may arise.

Take the Second Amendment for example. Gun control (I often call it 'citizen control'). It appears that our government always addresses the lowest denominator possible. What I mean by this is that we have a relatively small group of people responsible for gun violence. In this scenario, the government responds by abrogating the rights of the many, law abiding citizens who are not guilty of these acts. Another example is the policing of what we eat. Same methodology. Restrictions are imposed on restaurants because a small group of people do not meet the physical 'requirements' that our politicians believe to be ideal.

This creeping type of political ideology is becoming more bold with every passing day. It is an invasion on all levels ranging from repealing 'don't ask, don't tell', to the blatant edicts emanating from Homeland Security. Which brings me to the crux of the matter. What and when is enough?

I will plainly state that I have had enough. How can any person state that we are fighting a War on Drugs and War on Terror with a straight face? We can simply declare that we have no borders and that could be stated with a straight face.

If you cannot (rather will not) find wave upon wave of illegal immigrants, how can you possibly expect to win both wars?

The reason is that such policies are intended for political expediency, and nothing more. Both parties are falling all over themselves to court the potential voting block. So what are they doing?

They are fighting a War on Civilians. Creating more and more alphabet soup agencies that it is mind numbing. This done out of 'sensitivities' so as not to offend Islam, illegal aliens, and other pet liberal groups.

The only people on the losing side in The War on Drugs are the average citizens who favor our disappearing Constitutional Republic. Our rights are being systematically destroyed, the Constitution is being fed into the paper shredder and it will not stop. Again, the question "what and when does it stop?". I for one have had enough. How do you feel?

The market forces of a father's backhand and a requirement to be coherent on the job were all it took for me to dismiss drugs as an unnecessary risk.

An employer has the right to hire whomever they wish to. If you are driving a truck for example, the employer assumes the risk and should be concerned about a loaded driver. I had to think about the horse statement. Never have.

It is the government's tendency to exploit social issues that concerns me the most. That is the problem.

I will tell you right now, I am not for legalizing street drugs. This hue and cry is being raised by those already addicted who could care less if our children who have no clue about addiction have the legal ability to buy mind-altering drugs.

Just like alcohol. In the history of our country the mind-altering affects of alcohol caused the many to bang bang shoot ‘em up, and after prohibition failed because the many were already addicted to it, it was once again legalized. And today we have 37% of the deaths in the US thanks to idiots getting in their cars drunker than Cooter Brown. Not only drunk, but also high on wacky weed at the same time.

If you want to get rid of the US DEA, I’m certainly for that. We already have enough fire power on the streets in every city, county and state to uphold the drug laws locally where they are accountable to local citizens.

We already have US customs officials on our borders and shipping yards. Why aren’t they doing their jobs? Perhaps if they were made accountable to local citizens they might do a better job.

As for the Border Patrol, it should be disbanded and our borders protected by US soldiers stationed every 100 miles whose responsibility is to patrol their section to prevent the smuggling of humans and drugs.

Worse than the Gunrunner scandal, the feds have allowed TONS of cocaine into the country (Chicago Area!!!) in exchange for information on rival cartels. This corruption extends to the highest level of our government.

Violent criminals are those that should be put away. So I'm not soft on crime if that is what you are trying to imply. Some of the sentences I see for the crimes of that nature is a joke.

I completely agree. Much like "hate" crimes, those transgressions associated with drugs (other than the underlying possession or distribution crimes currently in existence) are already against the law. I should be able to consume an eight-ball in the privacy of my home without concern. If that consumption results in a crime, away I go. Right now, the illegality of the blow tends to make me commit crimes to acquire more of it.

Much like the famous "now madam we are just haggling about the price" hypothetical about prostitution, with legal alcohol, we are merely haggling about who gets the money.

Don't forget about the wall. (no sarcasm). The problem is that so many illegals are here that politicians only think about getting potentional votes. We get screwed in the process. As always.

Violent offenders are what concerns me the most. Courts are too lenient with this. I've known people who smoked pot and the ‘Reefer Madness’ simply wasn't there. I don't care too much what people do. Just don't cause me problems. I wouldn't be consuming a eight-ball. My problem is that our Constitutional rights are being stripped from us because they care about our welfare. Yeah right.

I'm sure it does. A simple logical statement.

If the government refuses to defend our borders, while at the same time stating that it is fighting a War On Drugs, how can it do so? It doesn't add up. The only people feeling the heat is the citizens of this country being forced to endure our liberties taken and also to put up with the violent crime associated with these illegals. I doubt that our liberal leaders reside in such neighborhoods. It's not their problem. They don't care.

I knew that I would catch flak on this articles when I posted it. People will slap a label on me for it, “he’s one of them” and I don’t care at all. If they want to flush the Constitution down the toilet, go ahead. They won’t be taking me with them if I can help it. We are a police state, I would suggest a fledgling totalitarian state. A government that essentially has stated through Homeland Security that all conservatives are a terrorist threat. There is nothing funny about that.

One other thing, I don't want to argue.

I have a friend whose daughter is giving her a really hard time. This kid stood up in the school cafeteria and announced that she was going home to smoke pot, and that she had a plant.

Within a short time, the police went to my friends house and upended EVERYTHING in her place. That may have been to the tipping point for me. My friend is straight as an arrow. She was crying and shaking. Coming apart.

Keep in mind that somebody could do the same to you if they don't like you. It's a witch hunt.

Customs agents are a whole new agency different from BPA’s. They’re stationed at every port of entry. Way far away from their DC bureaucrats. They need to be made accuntable to local jurisdictions.

There’s not a fence high enough that the rats can chew through, ladder over or dig under. Only armed manpower is going to stop it. Get rid of the BPA’s, the many who have family across the border and replace them with soldiers subject to the USMJS.
