A golden retriever was definitely its owner's best friend early Tuesday morning when it scared off a man who was sexually assaulting its owner, Madison police reported.

"The dog knew its owner was in trouble and came growling, barking and gnashing its teeth," DeSpain said. "The attacker fled."

I had a strange knock at the door, it was an odd hour, so I put my pants on, and grabbed my loud noisemaker. When I was going to open the door, my 9 lb black cat was right behind me on the furniture all puffed up, ready to back me up. Strangest thing I ever saw her do, and she did some strange things.
She and her sister were great cats!

They sound like great cats. Some cats are laid back. They pay no attention to what’s going on. And I’ve had dogs that hid behind me when someone shouted. LOL With a laid back cat you can “shake well and toss”. :-)
And easier to carry.
Is he professional enough to carry that weapon?
Your story reminds me of some friends who had a big white fluffy cat. An elderly man came to visit and he was sitting on the sofa in the living room. The cat was sleeping in the kitchen and woke up to see a bunch of white hair at the top of the back of the sofa. I guess he thought it was another cat. He ran full speed into the living room and jumped on the elderly man’s head. Fortunately the elderly man didn’t have a heart attack. He lost some hair and had some claw marks in his head.
Fortunately Titus never went after anyone inside if they were invited in. Well.....he did lay in wait under the baby bassinet. He didn't allow anyone but family to take the baby out. They could only hold him if we handed him over. And that "baby" just turned 40. LOL
Unless you have a siamese cat that attacks you from the top of the fridge.
Me too. Petunia, my aunt’s siamese, loved to attack from the top of fridge right on your back. Do not make Petunia mad. She did not care who you were. I had one that growled at everyone but me and hubby.
Love your cat.
He was trained by his Marine daddy!
Simply PRICELESS!!
Thanks for the ping, Joe!
You've obviously never had a Siamese!
Thanks. He was special!
“His remains should be in that dogs food bowl right now.”
Now that is just animal cruelty. :-)
Good grief. Cats are funny. One of mine from the inside kept eyeing this cat that was coming onto the patio. My husband went to pick her up thinking he was doing something good. I warned him do not get between two cats even if they can’t reach other. He, of course did not listen, as the cat was about to attack the window. Unfortunately she sunk her teeth into my husband’s ankle and he went down. You know, he and that cat were the best of friends from then on. He had a lot of respect for her.
I walk Linda the Lab/Chou pretty late sometimes. She is very protective of me!
My Siamese was a sweetheart. Michael loved everyone. Even the dog. :-)
Good. He shouldn’t be shooting himself in the leg, then.
