In Sept. 2008, Roger Fisher said that he was happy to receive the publicity for the song "Barracuda", co-written with the Wilson sisters from Heart, which was being used by the McCain/Palin campaign.
The Wilson sisters said that "Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women."
Roger told Reuters back then that he pledged to give part of the royalties from the song's use by McCain/Palin campaign to Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's campaign.
I wonder if he and the Wilson sisters feel the same way about Barack Obama these days...
A “Fun Sunday” Entertainment Ping of sorts.
Sarah Palin does not represent the Wilson sisters as “American women”? So, what does?
HA! I KNEW IT!
As a Songwriter, I knew at the time that the McCain/Palin Campaign would NEVER have used the song without proper licensing. Which means they PAID to use it.
Unless the composer controls the publishing rights to their song, they have no say in WHO purchases the license and MAKES MONEY for them.
No they don’t regret it. They are clueless leftist morons who don’t have time for the facts.
But they proudly sell their music rights for “What About Love” to a mop product.
I was talking to Roger at the Raging River about a month ago. He sat in with my old band on stage. We’re facebook friends, but don’t talk politics. If I had known he had done this, I’d have brought it up.
WOW, Rob!
How is Roger doing these days?
“But they proudly sell their music rights for What About Love to a mop product”.
Nice catch. And how appropriate . Mops.
OF course they do, they are self deluded Liberals, like most of them are. Cognitive dissonance, while it might give them pause, doesn’t bother them at all.
I don’t think that Heart has much to do in reference to the Mop commercial.
“What About Love” was written by a Canadian couple.
Useless Trivia: Did you know that Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas of ‘Starship’ sang background vocals on this song with Heart?
Looks like she ate Linda Ronstadt.
The Canadian rockers known for hits like Barracuda, Dreamboat Annie and Magic Man are currently in the midst of a 20-stop tour of Canada.
No I did not know that Grace and Mickey sang on that song. I do remember Starship was in a bit of a lull before going commercial about that same time though. Same vocal styles, makes sense.
Terry Moss: Sarah Palin does not represent the Wilson sisters as American women? So, what does?
Paris Hilton
Seriously, though — I saw Heart in Colt Park in Conn. back when. Nice tunes, lots of fun, but if I wanted their political opinion I would have asked. I didn’t ask.
Dance, monkey!
Why would you think they'd change their minds? They come from the ivory tower, limousine liberal entertainment establishment. These people would support Obama even if he ate live babies on national TV.
