August 1 marks the 30th Anniversary of MTV. MTV revolutionized the way we looked at music and the VJs were a big part of shaping that vision. We want to know what it meant to you. Do you have fond memories of watching MTV or your favorite VJ?
Well collect your stories through the month of August and post them here on the site as we get them.
We will be accepting form entries starting Saturday, July 30th, 2011.
Entries may be edited and become the property of 80sVjs.com.
Randy of the Redwoods.
What is MTV?
The local 80's bar band down here is called, "The Molly Ringwalds" :-)
So what were your favorite videos? I vote for Hot Dressed Man and Centerfold..
That’s the way to do it. My kids know a lot of 80s music, too.
Best Video Ever....
“Take On Me” by A-Ha.
Way before it’s time.
Beavis and Butthead are coming back, starting in October. :)
MTV is like so many networks that have changed from when they first went on the air.
A lot of people probably don’t know what the acronyms stand for. Here are some: ESPN, A&E, CNBC, VH1, BET. Maybe this might be too easy.
So many channels have gone off the air over the decades through acquisitions, mergers, or some other reason.
Oh......my........Goodness!!!!
What a BABE!!!!
Interesting that they have this 30 year anniversary thing for MTV on VH1 instead of MTV itself.
What’s up — MTV can’t interrupt its current schedule of Teen Mom and other reality crapola?????
What’s the point of “Music Television”, MTV, if they don’t play music anymore????? In a world of hundreds of cable and satellite channels, with channels for specific programming, why doesn’t MTV live up to its name anymore?
ESPN = Entertainment and Sports Programming Network
A & E = Arts and Entertainment
CNBC = Consumer News and Business Channel
VH1 = Video Hits One
BET = Black Entertainment Television
This could be fun. Some others :
CSPAN = Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network
HBO = Home Box Office
And TLC stands for “The Learning Channel”
CNN = Cable News Network
TNT = Turner Network Television
TCM = Turner Classic Movies
One of my fav's was the babe featured in Rainbow's All Night Long
"...don't know about yer brain but you look alright..."
Ditto! He was creepy looking, too.
“Skip Roper & Mojo Nixon”
Michael J.Fox is the anti-Elvis.
Yeah, totally!
“hey girl, would you like some wine?”
“What’s your name? Are you by yourself?”
“Are you the one? What’s your sign? Can I take you home?”
Classic Graham Bonnet. Powerful voice, hot chick in the vid, good musicianship.
... and that made me think of Fishbone...
I want to swim...!!
And I’m so old that I remember Night Tracks...
