What's the matter with kids today and why doesn't anyone want them around? In June, Malaysia Airlines banned babies from many of their first class cabins, prompting other major airlines to consider similar policies.

Earlier this month, McDain's, a Pittsburgh area restaurant that banned kids under 6 became a mascot for the no-kids-zone movement.
According to a Pittsburgh local news poll, more than half of area residents were in favor of the ban. And now big business is paying attention.
"Brat bans could well be the next frontier in destination and leisure-product marketing," writes Robert Klara in an article on the child-free trend in AdWeek.
Klara points to Leavethembehind.com, a travel website for kid-free vacations, with a massive list of yoga retreats, luxury resorts and bargain hotels around the world that ban children.

If old farts want my kids’ social security contribution they should stop whining about the mere presence of children. There are definitely some selfish old people and childless people out there. Fine. They can care for each other in their final years and see how that goes for them.
Yeah, yeah, some kids are brats. That can be dealt with on an ad hoc basis. And I’m not for bringing kids into a nightclub or something. But it’s getting scary when kids are seen more as burdens than blessings. We, the mere “breeders”, need backing, not disparaging.
That's RACIST!

Agreed. His property, his choice.
“parents are too lazy to discipline their children anymore “
I think it’s worse than that; I think parents are held hostage by their kids, and are terrified of them. Sometimes when I need an affirmation of my decision to not have children, I’ll turn on “Supernanny”. Seems the common denominator among all the parents is that the children — even the very young ones — are thugs, and they constantly bully their parents. Eeewww. (I do know some extremely well-behaved children in our church.)
Right. The problem isn't the children.
ROFL! And that'll do it, too.
While I’m no fan of obnoxious kids, the fault is the parents.
I can understand the desire to be in a quiet, brat free environment, but this ban on children in certain places is an alarming warning signal of the condition of our culture and society.
Seems to me that a business should be able to decide who to allow in their establishments. Just as I can decide which businesses to shop/eat at.
If any of you would like to better understand the problem, get a copy of the movie "Barbarella" and pay particular attention to the scene where the "Getter" was rounding up all the kids who had been allowed to run wild. That will pretty much sum-up today's child problem.
We have banned restaurants from our list of recreational events. Those wonderful getaway-from-it-all moments so many enjoy have become nightmares with so many ill mannered children running unsupervised throughout the restaurants be they fast food, or other. Sick of it all.
We specifically don’t shop a couple of major retailers, because of being knocked down by kids running, and playing in the aisles while their parents shop oblivious of their kids actions.
As kids we knew what was right, and wrong. Our parents made certain we knew. Today the kids run free like animals with no regard for anybody but themselves, and what they want for fun, and entertainment, and their mouths....my GOD their mouths.
Again, agreed.

Note the year.
My parents decided to stop going out to eat when my younger brother was born. This lasted for a few years. At least they had the sense to know other people would be annoyed with his antics.
I've yet to find such a place. In fact, the more 'adult oriented' the restaurant, the less likely the parents are to pay any attention to their kids. They bring them along so they don't have to pay a sitter, then go about pretending it is "date night" for mom and dad.
If a business wants to ban children, they should have that right. Just as a business should have the right to permit smoking if they choose. The government certainly shouldn't be getting involved.
I’ve discovered that moving has that effect too - they’ve all become very emotionally needy. Even Zia the Hatecat is demanding skritchies.
“that the children even the very young ones are thugs, and they constantly bully their parents.”
Because the parents have shown they will not level any measure of discipline at them. I just went to a store this afternoon and could hear a 2 year old girl scream. I went over and screamed back. She shut up. I then gave the “parent” a little piece of my mind. Obviously, that little girl had never had so much as an unkind word directed at her by her biological giver. Wanna bet that little girl is one of those thugs and by the time she is 7 she will have started hitting her biological giver?
People have simply grown lazy, which is why they are fat and their kids are out of control. There simply are no negative consequences to their actions. We’ve PC’d ourselves out of control.
I dunno - easy to become distracted during that movie. ;^)
“wipe him!? Hes frickin 6 and a half!!!”
Last weekend ata s tore I heard this little boy screaming for his mother. He was about 5 and wanted the same thing. She went in to the bathroom. We have a nationof defectives.
LOL - you're probably right on the mark.
