Could be. Depends on where the Moon is in its orbit when you're talking about the volcano.

There is no dark side of the moon, really. As a matter of fact it’s all dark.

There is no permanent dark side of the Moon. Only a near side and a far side. The far side gets illuminated by the Sun during the New Moon phase (when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun once per Month).
