SS payments were just another stupid tax to support those who couldn’t plan.

Anyone who thought they were INVESTING in their future was nuts. Baby Boomers must have been high.

Anyone younger than 50 who thinks he/she will see a dime of SS (other than maybe one of the other uses of SS, such as kids with ADHD who have never put a penny in the system) is crazy.

My retirement planning has SS as a big goose egg. I wish they would just kill the damn thing and be done with it.

My worry is they will come after my 401(k) to subsidize people stupid enough to depend on SS for their Depends.

Your worry is well-founded because you seem stupid enough to cavalierly dismiss the system of Social Security retirement benefits as a con-game, let the syatem collapse, not hold the Simpsons of the country to account, and call everyone that paid in to the system (except yourself) fools. Your take on the whole thing shows you to be stupid.

Social Security is nothing more than a redistribution of income scheme. It is not even the biggest income redistribution of income scheme. Socialized schooling is far larger than Social Security in terms of dollars redistributed and in terms of the number of people feeding at the government trough. Socialized schooling is also many times larger than Social Security in terms of the bureaucracy generated by the scheme.

Yet, one finds even people who consider themselves conservative whining and gnashing their teeth if anyone suggests doing away with socialized schooling. They don’t want to give up their government subsidy any more than people on Social Security or on food stamps or living in government housing projects want to give up their subsidy.

As long as there are politicians willing to buy votes with tax money and people willing to have their lifestyles subsidized by others nothing will change for the better.

SS was originally founded by FDR...another socialist. It was just another nail in the coffin for this country.

Those of us boomers who have paid into it did so involuntarily.

As boomers, we (my husband and I) have lived since we were in our 20s as though we would never see one thin dime of it in our old age. Thank God that we made that choice.

I don’t know where you get the idea that we thought it was a good investment in our futures. The only way we looked at it was sucking out our income to give it to someone else.

SS payments have been a part of the general fund for many decades. We aren’t stupid, pal.

“My worry is they will come after my 401(k) to subsidize people stupid enough to depend on SS for their Depends.”

Your worry is just about yourself, and no one else.

You should look in the mirror before you start castigating others.

You are a despicable human being.

Worth saying again, and you should be.

I will view that as direct stealing by anyone enacting or enforcing such a law.
