“My worry is they will come after my 401(k) to subsidize people stupid enough to depend on SS for their Depends.”
Your worry is well-founded because you seem stupid enough to cavalierly dismiss the system of Social Security retirement benefits as a con-game, let the syatem collapse, not hold the Simpsons of the country to account, and call everyone that paid in to the system (except yourself) fools. Your take on the whole thing shows you to be stupid.

You are misunderstanding my point: People who BELIEVED in SS were and are stupid. When I started work at 17 YO lo those 30+ years ago I could do basic math and figure that out.
They had no choice to pay, no more than any other Payroll tax — but until it is repealed it should be seen as evil at shoved down our throats that must be struck down.
There is no “system” to collapse — it is a house of cards. It will collapse on its own: better we just take it down and call it the failed experiment it was.
It is a “con game” — the biggest Ponzi scheme in the history of mankind. If YOU don’t see that, well, you are welcome to your own version of math.
If you depend on SS for anything other than bubble-gum money, then I pity you.
