Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming , Co-Chair of Obama's deficit commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.

Here's a response in a letter from a unknown farmer in Montana .... I think he is a little ticked off! He also tells it like it is ! --------------------------------------------------------- "Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight..

In the meantime we eliminate all but retirement and spouse benefits. It was never meant to be a backstop plan for the disabled nor children — there are other supports for them.
###
Worse than paying them is paying immigrants who come here after the age of 65 and collect from day one.

No worry Darlin’. I am a rugged Alaska transplant to Tennessee and have survived many pitfalls. It is the area where the kids blame me for the socialism where I take a stand. God Bless!

Those supports should be eliminated too. Charity is not a government job.

Do they get paid? I get an annual statement on my input to SS and expected payout (I always laugh).

Is there a separate schedule? Just curious so I can look it up (and probably get POd).

Well, we came into accord in a rather strange way.

And you don’t have to call me darlin’ Darlin:

I just found out about it six or seven months ago. A family from Pakistan got their citizenship last month. The wife does my secretary’s nails and told her that they were bringing her husbands parents over and she had to get the paperwork together so they could sign up for Social Security the day they arrive.

I called Social Security and asked if my immigrant neighbor could bring his father over and have his father get Social Security and they said, only if my neighbor is a citizen.

How’s that for a kick in the nuts?

It’s SSI not Social Security Retirement but it comes out of the Social Security Department.

Immigrants over 65 can receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), not Social Security.

SSI does not require payments into SS by the Recipient. It is there for the blind, disabled etc.

I believe the change was actually implemented during the Nixon Administration. I had thought it happened under Carter, but I was mistaken.

SS was originally founded by FDR...another socialist. It was just another nail in the coffin for this country.

Those of us boomers who have paid into it did so involuntarily.

As boomers, we (my husband and I) have lived since we were in our 20s as though we would never see one thin dime of it in our old age. Thank God that we made that choice.

I don’t know where you get the idea that we thought it was a good investment in our futures. The only way we looked at it was sucking out our income to give it to someone else.

SS payments have been a part of the general fund for many decades. We aren’t stupid, pal.

“My worry is they will come after my 401(k) to subsidize people stupid enough to depend on SS for their Depends.”

Your worry is just about yourself, and no one else.

You should look in the mirror before you start castigating others.

You are a despicable human being.

So far, we agree.

>I don’t know where you get the idea that we thought it was a good investment in our futures. The only way we looked at it was sucking out our income to give it to someone else.

That isn’t what I said. I said that many (stupid) people thought that SS would actually be what the gummit said it would be.

You seem to think I am bad for pointing that out.

>>SS payments have been a part of the general fund for many decades. We aren’t stupid, pal.<<

Yes and no. Theoretically, SS payments are SS. It gets vacuumed out the back door.

Again, we agree. Why do you think I say you are stupid? The stupid people are those who RELY on the gummit fulfilling its promise. You already said you don’t rely on that so how can you say I implied you are stupid? We are on the same page here.

>>Your worry is just about yourself, and no one else.<<

All Conservatives look after themselves first — we can’t help anyone else if we aren’t looking after ourselves. Am I to infer that NOT taxing the 401(k) that Congress instantiated a specific nontaxation is some sort of selfishness?

Are you a liberal who wants to take care of everyone else? Is your position that we should tax 401(k)s? If not, then I don’t understand your statement.

>>You should look in the mirror before you start castigating others.<<

Other than bad planning, I have castigated no one.

>>You are a despicable human being.<<

You, OTOH, have castigated me for suggesting bad planning is
not a good idea.

I wish I could return your insult, but, just as you cannot justify your statement about me, I can only find you to be sadly unable to read plain English.

Thus, where you find my despicable, I can only find you somewhat slow and very, very uninformed.

They are funded from the same source.

That is why I use the generic “SS” — for me it makes it clear we are talking about the same pool.

Worth saying again, and you should be.

I will view that as direct stealing by anyone enacting or enforcing such a law.

A good third of Freepers are competing in the Social Security/Medicare version of “Dancing with the Stars”....freedumb2003, what’s your favorite step?

the “Cutting Waste and Fraud Will Solve The Problem Two-Step”

the “Let’s Eliminate the Mohair Subsidy and NASA So We Can Save My Monthly Check Cha-Cha-Cha”

the “Get Rid of Every Government Program Except The One That Benefits ME Tango”

the “Tax The @#!@!! Out Of My Grandkids, But Keep My Check Coming Waltz”

and that evergreen favorite, the “Kick The Can Down The Alley Until After I’m Dead Fox Trot”

You haven’t been reading my posts, have you?

I want to walk away from the money shoved down the SS tax hole. Phase it out since it is a pointless exercise when any child of 4 can do the math and see it is impossible to maintain.

Now, ask your question again. This time read for content. I can type slower if that will help.

Hey, I meant my comment to reinforce your posts. I've been knocking heads with the "I paid in...I deserve....The government promised me..." crowd here for years.

Sorry for the friendly fire.

Sometimes one can’t tell without a scorecard. Given the grief I have gotten I hope you can see why I might be a little knee-jerky :)

Maybe not according to the law. I’m not saying that Congress cannot cut the benefits. But they did make a promise. That’s how it was sold to the voters.
