It is unconscionable that extremist groups circulate letters which accuse me of horrific things, saying that I am a traitor, that POWs in Hanoi were tied up and in chains and marched passed me while I spat at them and called them baby killers. These letters also say that when the POWs were brought into the room for a meeting I had with them, we shook hands and they passed me tiny slips of paper on which they had written their social security numbers. Supposedly, this was so that I could bring back proof to the U.S. military that they were alive. The story goes on to say that I handed these slips of paper over to the North Vietnamese guards and, as a result, at least one of the men was tortured to death.
That these stories could be given credence shows how little people know of the realities in North Vietnam prisons at the time. The U.S. government and the POW families didnt need me to tell them who the prisoners were. They had all their names. Moreover, according to even the most hardcore senior officers, torture stopped late in 1969, two and a half years before I got there. And, most importantly, I would never say such things to our servicemen, whom I respect, whether or not I agree with the mission they have been sent to perform, which is not of their choosing.
But these lies have circulated for almost forty years, continually reopening the wound of the Vietnam War and causing pain to families of American servicemen. The lies distort the truth of why I went to North Vietnam and they perpetuate the myth that being anti-war means being anti-soldier.

Typical Marxist revisionism.
I have little doubt that she’s convinced herself over the years about this new narrative she’s sharing. The rationalizations the human mind can make to justify even the worst atrocities are nothing short of amazing. I am sure that Nazi war criminals who avoided capture for several decades convinced themselves of similar narratives, that they were never “true believers” and that they were tricked and coerced.
But at the end of the day, facts are facts. Independent witnesses can elaborate what she did and said forty years ago. She bought into the North Vietnamese propaganda. She allowed them to convince her that they were really the good guys, fighting for justice and equality and that our boys over there represented an oppressive, imperialist regime. And she acted accordingly and good Americans suffered as a result.
At the end of the day, do I believe she got suckered? Yeah. But you know what? That doesn’t excuse a damn thing. When you’re willing to put fine words over your own countrymen, you deserve to be deceived. You also deserve to be held in the deepest disdain for what you do under that deception.
What Fonda did was not the sort of thing you can take back by saying, “Sorry, I was tricked and made a terrible mistake.” Her actions had consequences. She deserves every word of harsh criticism she receives for those actions.
Authors Henry and Erika Holzer talked about their book, Aid and Comfort: Jane Fonda in North Vietnam, published by McFarland and Company. In their book, the authors make the assertion that for her sympathy towards North Vietnamese as witnessed in publicity photos and speeches, Jane Fonda could have been tried for treason. The authors cited a variety of examples and afterwards, answered questions from members of the audience, a group of Vietnam veterans.
If you were 40 years younger we would have photographs of you in Afghanistan helping the Taliban set up IEDs.
You are an evil treasonous Leftist and your legacy as the female Benedict Arnold is set in stone.
There's truth in you words!
What I really don’t understand about her is that if she is remorseful for her actions about being anti-war and not anti-soldier then why hasn’t she given the rest of her life to the USO. Visiting troops in a positive way. People make mistakes in life and are very remorseful but she just does not seem fully remorseful even in this explanation from her very words. Why doesn’t she visit VA hospitals on a weekly or at least monthly basis. She can do WAY more to show how sorry she is, but has not really shown any actions to really being sorry. I believe that what she is really sorry about is that the story won’t stop and it is annoying to her.
Several years ago, Hanoi Jane was signing books at a publicity event. A Viet Nam Vet stood in line with a big wad of chewing tobacco. When it was "his turn," he nailed her right in the face and said he was "returning the favor." Although I don't condone his act, I certainly understand why he did it. I don't know if he was prosecuted; but he deserved a pass.
Thank you for your service, antceecee.
The truth about your trip to Hanoi, bitch, is that you took that trip to Hanoi.
Thanks Keltik.
Jane, your explanation and your excuses ring as hollow with me today as they did back in the day. As proud service member at the time, and a still proud veteran today, your actions, your words and deeds, were treasonous, and very likely contributed to the emotional and physical stress and torture those POW’s were living with EVERY SINGLE DAY.
You will have to live with that.
For my part...you sowed that field, and you deserve to reap whatever putrid crop it produces.
Now, go away. There are patriots across the land with no need for you and your kind.
WinterSoldier.com has the only complete set of transcripts of Fonda's 1972 broadcasts on Radio Hanoi.
Note the similarities to the "war crimes" propaganda of John Kerry, the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, and generations of leftists since then.
Jane is getting confused and senile in her old age. Karl Marx said that, under socialism, all women must be equally available for all men. That's why socialism is so attractive to beta-males.
My God, Jane.
You got fired because no one wants to buy your crap any more.
I wouldn’t buy from you because of being a traitor, but that is not why they fired you.
The people watching these shows have no freakin’ idea of who you are. You are just an old lady hawking crap.
Get over yourself.
Actually, Jane and her ilk hoped the Soviets would win the cold war.
Me thinks the bitch doth protest too much. And too unconvincingly. F you Jane.
I tried to read the whole thing but it was such drivel my eyes started to cloud over. I had friends wounded in Nam.
Long story short Jane Fonda, a card carrying co-dependent moron who was over 30 years of age traveled to an enemy nation we were at war with and gave the enemy aid and assistance whether she likes to admit it or not. Ignorance is not always an excuse. Her presence there did nothing to shorten the war or obtain the release of our POW’s. It was a disgrace and embarrassment to our nation and I’m sure her father rest his soul.
I love way the way Hanoi Jane rationlizes that her visit was OK because the N Vietnamese had “stopped torturing” our POW’s. Like it was OK that it ever happened.
Memo to Jane: The only reason you were not brought up on charges of Treason and put in federal prison was because your father was a national icon and nobody had the heart to do it. Its a tribute to the decency of Viet Nam Vets that you are still alive and kicking and spouting your Commie crapola to this day.
Her huddy Hayden was also on the trip to Hanoi with Hanoi Jane and her infamous affair with the commie anti-aircraft gun. Both of them were and are traitors to our country. The two traitors are with Moonbeam Brown in the below pic, quite a trio.
I condone his act, I applaud his act, I support his act & I wish he'd repeat his act.
Excellent catch!!! She regrets being found out, not the underlying act. Just another indication that the apology is hollow.
"No Jane, this isn't the truth - this is just your attempt to reinvent your past. You left out any discussion of your collaboration with the enemy during the war, particularly your propaganda broadcasts from Radio Hanoi, calling us "war criminals" and exhorting us to surrender to the enemy. The transcripts of those broadcasts are still available so you can't deny it. You also made press statements that were supportive of the enemy and when you returned, put out statements alleging that we "were engaged in genocidal warfare" by "bombing the Red River Dikes" to "cause flooding and mass casualties". You knew that these charges were a lie but you put them out anyway to support the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong efforts. These weren't "peace" activities, these were treasonous acts committed while a quarter million American citizens and our allies were fighting a few miles south of where you were was helping the men who were trying to kill us.Just exactly how would we have treated someone who had traveled to Germany or Japan during WW II and met with the enemy leaders, made supportive press statements, made propaganda broadcasts, and then returned home to accuse American fighting men of "war crimes"? Since when is supporting the enemy an activity for "peace"? Demonstrating against a war is anyone's right but actively supporting an enemy against us is not - you should have been charged with treason and I am sure that you would have been convicted. You should be ashamed of herself. "
I wonder how many letters like this she got and didn't publish? We need to keep after her and all those syncophants that support her.
And they didnt troture POWs while she was there...and she didnt know about it anyway....
This scumbag should have been dis-allowed back in the country...let her stay in North Vietnam....that workers paradise......SHHSSSSSSSS
Jane Fonda replied to me PERSONALLY!!
Her reply is exactly what I expected. We've gotten under her skin and she can't change the past, so she has to "revise" it. Too bad so many people today don't remember the Vietnam War era and we prosecute treason anymore!!
