JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Police in Mississippi say a woman opened fire on a puppy that had threatened children, but wound up shooting and killing her husband.
Witnesses tell police that the pit bull named "Cocaine" had lunged at some children and tried to attack them on Friday. The dead man's son says the children were taken inside and his father picked the dog up.

My dog Sodomy was a great dog so long as he didn’t start humping your leg. It never ended well.
Amish! Right??
Let me guess - you guess the same choice every time, and are right 95% of the time...
Funny how that works out, eh?
To be honest, I pick and choose which stories I guess at depending on the story itself.
Well, I guess the woman didn't turn out to be the heroin in this situation.
I had a 1st Sergeant who was as wise as he was mean and loud. One of his sayings:
"There is no such thing as 'friendly fire' - everything in front of a bullet is its enemy."
Ah, not exactly. However, I’m gonna give her the benefit of the doubt about her motives and what actually happened right now, as it’s not clear if the husband was holding the dogs as reported, or in fact in a serious struggle with it.
I mean she’s a idiot for sure, but maybe did not actually set out to shoot hubbie.
First, it’s a puppy. Second, the husband was able to pick it up and hold it long enough to get shot a couple of times so the dog wasn’t as bad as what she’s making it out to be. She, on the other hand, needs to be placed in a padded cell for eternity.
Another Barry soetoro voter bites the dust.
I guess I won’t be seeing them at the Mensa meeting tonight.
Slightly fuzzy picture - but that woman looks truly devastated. Something certainly did not go as planned that day.
What part of "Jackson, Mississippi" tipped you off this time? ;-)
I shoot da dawg as it flew threw da air and i shoted da pappy.
Yes, she does. I feel bad for her and her family. The parents were about protecting their kids, and now he’s gone.
First Sgts are one of the few creatures that can combine wise, mean, and loud in one package.
The family did not own the dog. The longer, somewhat better written story (linked to below) explains that Lazarius Montgomery owned the dog and the shorter story says that the owner of the dog may face charges. If my neighbors owned pitbulls named Blunt and Cocaine I’d keep my pistol handy too. I’d like to think that I’d be more judicious in my application of force.
I don’t put much stock in the way she looks. I remember a woman on an episode of The First 48 who was yelling, crying and carrying on hysterically when informed her husband had been murdered who was later proven to be the murderer! Looked a lot like this lady, in fact.
However one account has the guy sort of nose to nose with dog, trying to avoid being teeth to throat - and she might have panicked. Some people that have access to a gun, but no real experience or understanding of how to use one can do some truly stupid things.
