A woman returned to her Cumbrian home to find a near perfect imprint of an owl on her window.
The bird had apparently crashed into the window of Sally Arnold's Kendal home, leaving the bizarre image - complete with eyes, beak and feathers.
Experts said the silhouette was left by the bird's "powder down" - a substance protecting growing feathers.
Mrs Arnold said she could find no sign of the owl, so assumed it had flown off without serious injury.
She said: "Our first concern was for the welfare of what we suspected was an owl and we opened up the window to check if it was still around.
"Fortunately, there was no sign of the bird and we can only assume that it had flown away probably suffering from a headache."

Interesting, but seems way too good to be real.
If you look very, very close, you can see an image of the Virgin Mary...........I’d put it up for sale on Ebay.
It does seem way too detailed.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates on the story.
No, wait...
It's the birds that are yukking it up, and it's the stupid white male that walks into the window.

But it was posted today :)
lol. I’m not a Harry Potter fan, and I didn’t know he had an owl.
At our old house in Phoenix we had a huge picture window onto the back yard. Although we never saw evidence of an owl, on that window we would commonly get “dove prints”. Almost always the dove would fly away, surprised but apparently uninjured.
It's a fake...
To those who think this is too detailed: I once ran into a large black bird at 65 mph when driving cross country. It left a very detailed imprint like that. (It however did not survive.)
Why?
If the glass was clear, would the bird be expecting the impact?
Yeah, because all white males are stupid. TV teaches us that. And all rich people are bad and frame poor people for their crimes. And all terrorists are white males, too.

Yep...just saw it in 3D. Excellent.
I think Fluffy the cat was sitting in the window and the owl went in for dinner only to find at the last second about the window, put on the brakes but smashed in anyway. However, I have seen many birds hit windows and I have never seen one put on the brakes first.....hmmmmmmm. Then again, the owl would naturally be putting on the brakes to grab the cat so maybe the window was not a factor at all.
This will be psychologically damaging to the owl though, he will always remember how painful and humiliating it was and might be very hesitant in his later hunting.
One thing is for sure, this event was certainly not a hoot for the owl, though likely was for the cat.
It’s a white owl.... We used to smoke ‘em.
Seriously though, that would be really creepy coming at you.
May have instituted the back-stroke at the last second before impact...
We figured out it was usually after we cleaned the windows. soooooo, good excuse to not clean the storm windows...its saved many a birds life...A few of the birds I had to look up in a bird book.....
Ya think?
One of my Dad’s homes had half a dozen pheasants fly into the front room window almost every summer. The majority of them broke their necks. They became supper and dry fly fishing hooks.
