As I watched a show last night and the husband said they were coming out with "Guns Blazing", his wife corrected him and said "we don't own guns, we are Democrats." This set off alarm bells for me and made me ask myself, what happen to this sad party? When I was growing up , the democrat was the hard working family, Dad working full time, not rich , but supporting themselves, family vacations camping. Dad teaching the sons the fine art of deer hunting. Mom bonding with other like Moms to keep the social structure and bonds alive. The family was able to chip away at the mortgage, save ,put the kids through school and be at peace with their ability to do it on their own. They voted democrat because they believed it was the party that best represented their values. Their representatives were just like them and they felt a bond. Now the party has been hijacked by the extremists. Socialism, expanded government and interference. No more guns, personal responsibility,common sense. A value system that is corrupt. A party that will stop at nothing and use any tactic necessary to win, whether it is legal or legitimate. A party that continues to destroy their ability to earn on their own and have a level playing field. How is Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank able to say they are just like you? To them , the democrats are just pawns to be used to increase their power. Keep them poor and stupid and we can do as we please. So , as pundits talk of a third party coming out of the Republican side because of dis-enchantment, why isn't that same discussion being held about the democratic party. Where are the true democrats that are sick of their party being hi-jacked?
The Democrats being talked about when he grew up left that party when they nominated George McGovern to be their Presidential Candidate who ran against Richard Nixon and lost every State except his own (Minnesota). He might have carried Mass., but I can’t remember.
True democrats have gone the way of the dinosaur. Nothing but fascists exist on the left side of the aisle these days.

The democrat party has been hijacked by marxists. Inch by inch they have indocrinated once loyal Americans and taken control of their minds.
They hold the same value as cholera, HIV, locusts, fleas, ticks and mosquitoes.
Plenty of lefties are talking about primary-ing Obama. But “traditional” Democrats? There aren’t any...that horse left the barn in ‘72, after kicking the doors open in ‘68.
Honestly, modern-day RINOs are probably the closest thing we have to old-school Democrats - folks with semi - traditional values who nonetheless believe the Federal government has an important role to play in ameliorating social problems.
I’m NOT saying they’re correct.
You can find a lot of them in the tea parties.

The democrats have always had elements of socialism and fascism throughout the entire history of their party. Woodrow Wilson and then FDR are perfect examples. The KKK is also another prime example. The democrat love for unions is aligned with these socialist and fascist tendencies.
The main difference we are seeing in regards to the democrat party of today has to do with their complete and utter contempt for traditional values. This was ingrained into their parties soul during the sixties counter culture movement. There is no longer any check on the socialist or fascists in their party or on the perverts or the corruption being that the democrat party no longer believes in morality at all. For them morality is relative and good and bad morals must be treated equally.
It is extremely sad what has become of the democrat party being that their complete corruption effects us all and tarnishes our nation.
I will also add this though it is just speculation on my part. Many of actions of the democrat party today lead me to believe that they seek the destruction of this nation possibly in order to do away with the Constitution. The history of the democrat party has always been a history of their war with the Constitution from the Confederate democrats to the Progressive democrats. While so much may seem to just be spontaneous, it may be that there is a backroom plan by democrats to destroy this nation from within and do away with the Constitution.

When Zell Miller retired, he turned out the lights on that party. There were no others even close.
The DemocRAT party allowed themselves to be hijacked beginning in the Sixties, but I maintain it was further back than that, when they hopped into bed with the communists.

Many of them are in Shock. My In-Laws were shocked by ObamaCare and the reduction of services to seniors. My mother a staunch Democrat is chaffing badly at his treatment of Israel.
Old Democratic Congressmen and Senators have been thrown under the bus by the Progressive Socialist wing of the party. But some get re-elected in the conservative states if the conservative is a RINO or very weak.
But many Traditional Democrats have just tuned out. Many of my cousins are this way.
If you look at the 2010 election, you see this tuning out at the local, state and Federal levels otherwise the map would have been much different as the cities hold the electoral power now.
So the city Traditional Democrats have largely tuned out and only the vocal Progressive radicals are the ones you hear so loudly TV and the Media. They speak to the choir, but the rest are snoring in the pews.

My late father grew up in Deming, NM. He often told the story that he was into his mid-twenties before he learned the two parties were not “Democrat” and “Damned Republicans”!
Working democrats lost the war of politics over principle. There are no factions allowed anymore. One is a dhimmicrat or he is something else.
When I talk to leftists I can see the defeat in their eyes. Many of them cringe at the imagery of what they’ve become. They hate the insanity of their party acolytes and their outright thuggish behavior.
But practically to a person they (reluctantly) mulishly continue to support the party with their vote.
