Der Fuhrer's thoughts on 405 closure in L.A........

Don't know what's going to happen this weekend for people trying to get to and from LAX and points beyond. Good luck to all!....Personally, I'm out of town. (Fishing in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains.)

Everybody in L.A. who can stay home this weekend should do so. The spillover gridlock to all of the other freeways will be terrible.

Makes you wonder wtf is wrong with people...the road is going to be closed and they are calling in Carmegeddon. Like it’s the end of the world. People here are crazy.

Yes. They said the bite is on starting at South lake all the way up 395 to Bridgeport.

I am not getting this. When I was driving west on the 210 there were signs everywhere saying all exchanges to any part of the 405 would be closed.
I am in Santa Barbara and its all over our local news how we will be effected by this.
Interesting article in the Orange Country Register that this particular part of the 405 has the only freeway entries to two trauma hospitals. No one told the hospitals, they are desperate to find alternative routes to inform emergency crews.
Who came up with this plan and why did “they” wait to spring it on the public and cities.

I don’t get it either. They have had it posted everyday on the 57. It says expect heavy traffic and long delays. What?....drive to Riverside to get to Irvine?

I know you have heard “ Carmageddon”, I think we should pay a game.
Throwing into the mix, “the Sepulveda Pickle” or “the Day the Car Stood Still”.

The electronic signs all over the Bay Area are proclaiming Los Angeles will be a parking lot this weekend.
I don’t get why you close down a whole freeway especially for LA.
Netflix, Blockbuster or Red Box would be good alternatives.
Hell, I don’t think I would even try to get back into LA on a Monday.
All those other people who didn’t plan around or know about this event will be getting back into town a day late. /s

I’ve always thought it interesting that in Southern California they refer to their freeways as ‘the’ - as in the 405, the 215, the 264, etc.
Nobody else in the whole friggin’ country does this.

Ive always thought it interesting that in Southern California they refer to their freeways as the - as in the 405, the 215, the 264, etc.
They're also referred to by name - the 405 is the San Diego Freeway, the 10 West is the Santa Monica Freeway, the 110 is the Harbor Freeway, the 101 is the Hollywood Freeway, etc.
I can just imagine what Topanga Canyon Blvd and the PCH are going to be like with the 405 closed off. Imagine and shudder - glad I don't live down there anymore.

LOL. I don’t know why either. We used to live off “The 101” on the Central Coast of California, now we live just off “101” on the Central Oregon Coast. Once in a while I still slip and say “the 101”, whereby native Oregonians look at me with pity ;-)

And thank you for your service. Our son-in-law is a proud Marine. He and our daugther and four grandsons are currently stationed at European Command for one more year. We’re hoping that his next tour will be back at Camp P., or MCRD-San Diego. (Of course, this means that we’ll be heading up and down “The I-5” a few times a year ;-)
