Charles "Jason" Darnell, 33, and Jaren Ashley Hare, 21, face third-degree murder and manslaughter charges stemming from the 2009 death of their daughter...Prosecutors will allege that "Gypsy," a 260 centimeter albino Burmese python, escaped from its glass tank, slithered down the hall and attacked the child in her crib.
Darnell told detectives he found the snake in the hallway a day before the attack and had placed it back inside its tank and put a quilt on top of it. He also admitted that the snake had gotten out of the tank - which did not have a lock on it - at least five times prior to the incident.
Documents released in January and cited by the Orlando Sentinel claim that the snake had not been fed for a month when the child was attacked.

The kid drowned because the dad was having a sexual relationship with the snake.
"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. "Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with." "Atlas Shrugged," by Ayn Rand |

Seems to me like a tragic accident.
I don't see any reason to charge the parents.
Anyone wanna bet me that the parents are covered with tattoos?
I agree that the snake not eating for a month might not be such a big deal.
However, the fact that it had escaped from its enclosure at least 5 times before and the parents were either too stupid, too lazy or too cheap to put a lock on the enclosure makes me think this “accident” was forseeable and totally preventable. I have no problem with the parents being charged.
There's your perp
Must have something to do with Florida.
We have a 4-ft. ball python that we’ve had for 7 years. It is completely harmless, but the cage is always secured shut.
To have a large constrictor essentially having free run of the house where there is an infant is insanity. I would think there would be a several possible criminal charges here — at least depraved indifference, negligent homicide, involuntary manslaughter, if not murder.
Having a PYTHON around is an IDIOTIC thing to do.....it’s a tragedy waiting to happen....just like having a Pit Bull!
Seems ,he is NOT the father of the child, that His “pet” Killed,Disgusting, why did this complete Idiot have something like that worthless but dangerous Snake , around a small child to begin with? these Snake lovers are sick!
Sargon, are you just joking or have you taken a blow to the head recently?
I think some snakes can go without there offspring for 31 days

or a loaded hand gun
But stupidity is on the rise.
I am always amazed at the people who smile in their mugshots? Have they no shame? I would be mortified.
You are wrong.
Hysteria is unbecoming.
This is the same mentality that Casey Anthony jury had. It was just a tragic accident!
Dude looks like Private Gomer in “Full Metal Jacket.”
If stupidity were a crime, we'd all be in prison at one point or other.
