A Mexican national was executed Thursday for the rape-slaying of a teenager after the U.S. Supreme Court turned down a White House-supported appeal to spare him in a death penalty case where Texas justice triumphed over international treaty concerns. Humberto Leal, 38, received lethal injection for the 1994 murder of Adria Sauceda. She was fatally bludgeoned with a piece of asphalt. Leal was pronounced dead at 6:21 p.m. EDT (2221 GMT).

The full Supreme Court decided? If so, I imagine a 5-4 vote. You got it. I'll let you guess which Justices were in the majority and which dissented.

All of you are a bunch of hypocrites... either you are pro life or your are pro death. QED...No. Your straw man argument is not factual. There is innocence as in a child. And there are consequences for murder.

That was the point I was trying to make, are souls are no longer bound to the law. However are physical bodies are still bound to the laws of man.

You’ll be amazed at how many pro-fag “freepers’ I found in the last 6 months.

are you for real?
comparing the death penalty to killing is like comparing putting a criminal in jail to kidnapping.
To: samtheman
I am well aware of the facts of the case.
Celebrating and glad to see Justice win for a change are two different things.
I’m sure the Mother of this fine young girl is not celebrating. HER pain is still just as intense.

He has no authority over Texas courts, as ruled by SCOTUS in a previous case.

“Seems to me those of the religious sorts among us, would view it differently... Christians should never rejoice when the death penalty is employed...”
Genesis 9:6 “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.”
Not rejoicing, just doing the job God’s way.

Funny how conservatives are pro-life and pro-death penalty. While liberals are pro-choice and anti-death penalty. All of you are a bunch of hypocrites... either you are pro life or your are pro death. QED...
Seems to me those of the religious sorts among us, would view it differently... Christians should never rejoice when the death penalty is employed...
I recall a story about the Pharisees who brought a woman that was caught in the act of adultery to Jesus and asked Him if she should be stoned, Jesus replied, If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.
I think Jesus was simply exposing the hypocrisy nicely when he said it...
By "pro-life" I assume you refer to abortion, which Murders the INNOCENT. There was nothing innocent about this man who received justice.
And your bible reference? Well, Satan knew the Bible well enough to skew the truth and attempt to tempt Jesus on the mount.
Your efforts to equalize evil with true repentance is the epitome of hypocrisy.

>>One of those seeking a stay of execution for this piece of crap was former President George W. Bush.<<
To: The Magical Mischief Tour
Nonsense. Conservatives generally support the death penalty for the guilty but are also for protecting the lives of the innocent (and it's hard to get much more innocent than an unborn child). Where exactly do you see a moral conflict there? Liberals, on the other hand, seem to hold precisely the opposite preference. In your view, would Jesus support any earthly punishment for Leal's acts?

I wouldn't want to watch him on a clean white sheet on a spotless gurney in a sterile room be injected with a painless drug.
If Perry really wanted to violate International Law he should have turned that scumbag over to me. I would not have asked the state to reimburse me for the salt, propane, grinder wheels, tin snips, gasoline, drano, vice grips, c-clamps, sand paper, matches, etc that I would use to dispatch this predatory scumbag to hell with.
Rather than appeal for a stay I imagine he would have begged for death several hours into our "session".

I am really disturbed by the celebratory theme of this thread. I 100% behind this, but really, does it need to be applauded? I dont know. It just seems weird. I got a sick feeling in my stomach. I dont want to see someone be killed, this guy deserved it, but the celebration seems kind of off kilter to me. How is it off kilter?
If your daughter was raped with a broomstick, with a screw in the end of it, died in agony, tortured to her last breath..you would not celebrate the death of her torturer?
