Turn down the proposal, but keep the ring. Real classy!

Even if Mr. Williams never gets the ring back, I think he’s getting off cheap for $76K. A woman who would keep the ring would have almost certainly cost him many times that in money, headaches and heartaches, if she had accepted the proposal and become his wife.

If he tossed the ring into a random crowd of women, there is probably about a 99.99% chance someone better would catch it.

Agreed. Did she think the ring was a gift unrelated to the proposal? Her keeping the ring tells me that she is a gold digger. She did Roy a big favor by turning down his proposal.

No less classy than sending your proposal in the mail. Now he knows why you propose in person, that way if she says no you never let go of the ring.
