In another state is usually most people’s favorite place to buy them.
Williamsburg?
When I was stationed at Ft. Gordon and made the trip back and forth from GA and MD, those “Pedro Sez....” signs drove me crazy.
South of The Border. The biggest tourist trap on the East Coast. Almost Equal to J.R.’s.
I never “Sausage a Place”!
This explains a great deal about you, my FRiend.
No place like Bob’s.
I literally bought fireworks south of the border when I was a kid. They were always locally handmade made in Mexico, not some faraway factory in Macau. I liked the big firecrackers that looked like small sticks of dynamite. Others were folded from strips of newspaper into triangles. Fuses so crude, it was a wonder they worked. God only knows what the powder was made from - it did not look like that silver magnesium powder or even black powder.
I haven’t been able to buy Cherry bombs, M-80s for many a year now...
For me (and many NYC folks), the best was going downtown to Chinatown and buying them in an alley. Good quality, and the danger made it more exciting. Now, the cops have cracked down and it ain’t what it used to be.
My friend once tried to buy fireworks in NY Chinatown, he found it very difficult not to get guns, finally they gave him a box of fireworks for $20 and ushered him away before he could embarrass them further.
M8’s
Roman Candles
ummm.... makes my mouth water just thinking of those things I once played with each 4th of July.
Blow things up, throw an M80 into the water and watch the water geyser, scare the hell out of the cats.
Have battles with Roman Candles. Sometime you get burnt but you always survive even if your parents get after you for doing something stupid. How else are you going to learn?
Just saw the flashing traffic signs here in VA telling of checkpoints for drunk driving and fireworks. Not kidding.

Yeee-Haaaaw!
Next week you’ll be telling us you’re favorite place to buy prostheses.
Boomland on I55 near Sikestown Missouri. Like a Sam’s Club full of fireworks.
Red River Arsenal. They are guaranteed to work first time, every time.
WOW! That south of the border sign taked me back to family road trips and stocking up on Fire-works that you couldn’t get up north!
